Should halo infinite return to classic art style

Should halo infinite return to the classic art style or have a hybrid of modern and classic arts? Give a reason why.

As it already uses a hybrid style (such as having the modern Grunts with classic armor), there’s nothing to discuss.

Plus I swear there was already a thread (or two) on this topic already xD
But I could be mis-remembering.

I’m not sure about that, but after my thousandth Halo 3: Anniversary thread, I wouldn’t be surprised.

I’d rather take H3A threads over the “Halo Infinite needs Battle Royale!!1!” threads myself xD

Ah, but I’m starting to get off topic now~

Welp, there ain’t much to discuss. So of course it’s easy to go off topic! Also there are like ten different ongoing threads about the art-style already, not just two mate! Not even counting those the mods already closed! :joy:

If you care for it OP just google an older treads and post your opinions there. This one is just flooding the waters!

It low key is going back to the original art style but there’ll be some elements of the new art style in there too

If I had to choose between classic and modern I would 100% go classic but I’m actually really digging this hybrid they’re going with in Infinite. It makes it feel like Halo again but at the same time fresh. Chief looks the best he ever has.

So long as they take the best elements from each, I’m happy. And it looks like they are! I dig that metal in general is being simplified, with clean geometric shapes instead of overcomplicated silhouettes. The Forerunner structures from the reveal trailer show off the blending of old and new brilliantly, they are clean, shiny, active like modern forerunner architecture. But it’s simplified, it has large triangular shapes of metal, the angles are clean without 60 layers of “stuff” tapering off towards the edges. Combining the old shapes, with new gloss.

It already did?

In some things. For example the models for weapons, armor, vehicles, etc. didn’t need a redesign, only a graphical update (Halo 1 - 3 did exactly that) and the new stuff should follow the visual language of the faction that made it (covenant tech and UNSC guns kinda did in H4) but for the maps, the environments, the presentation, how it all connecs with the graphics and sound, even to some point the animations, I seriously believe 343 should totally make it their own, trying to push Halo in a new direction by playing within the rules. Infinite seems to be 100% cloning all this from bungie, which kinda worries me. I don’t want Halo to just quietly please and appeal to nostalgia and repeat itself forever. I don’t want to downright go back to the old days. I want new, better ones.

If it lessens the download size and or gives more time to gameplay and story development, yes, go back to Halo: Combat Evolved (Not anniversary) graphics if you gotta.

Halo Infinite’s artstyle is inspired by the older artstyle already making it a “hybrid.” Pay attention before making a whole forum on this.
