I think it would be cool if halo infinite was open world, but if they did do you think they should let you travel the galaxy, and not just a planet or halo ring. let me know what you think about halo infinite being open world

I agree for the halo ring but not with the galaxy it would take up way to much space

The game is likely to be a semi open world but that would be fun. A separate game mode will be cool where the whole ring will be explorable
I’d prefer that Infinite still followed a traditional level structure, but the individual levels were more “open world” and expansive than in previous titles.
Levels similar to Silent Cartographer from Halo:CE would be my preference.
Maybe we’ll actually see something of Infinite soon so we can cease all of this speculation…
People say it would be cool if Halo Infinite was open world, but how? Everyone and their dog is turning their franchise into open world, and while there have been some notable successes from teams known to be highly creative, and bold, most of the open world games are just completely forgettable and formulaic. Even many franchises whose whole shtick has been open world have failed in making their games interesting in the long term. With 343i not exactly being known for being highly creative and bold, I have little belief that they would not follow whatever is the hot trend in open world design and churn out yet another generic open world game that is little more than quests separated by swathes of empty space, which you will eventually just skip entirely by using some sort of fast travel.
The other issue I have with open worlds—all open worlds, even the best of them—is that they come up short in replay value. The open world concept is fundamentally based around exploration. And if you’re not dedicated enough or creative enough to come up with your own challenges, you have little reason to come back after you’ve been everywhere. The weakness of open world games is that you can never craft a short experience into the game that the player would want to go through again and again because you are restricted by the amount of freedom given to the player. In a game with a more rigid level structure, you can craft individual encounters such that the player will want to experience those again, and will have fun in them after after the tenth, the twentieth, the hundredth time.
If Halo Infinite were an open world, I would have very little faith in it.
I’m open to it but I kinda want them to test the waters with a spin off first to be on the safe side.
IMO, no way. Open world has been done to death and is a boring snoozefest in 99.9% of the games that use it. Most recently, Rage 2… the game was good except for everything having to do with the open world bits.
I wouldn’t hate something like Gears 5, where they do multiple large hub worlds (honestly, the second level of CE is already similar to this and was great), but I do not have any interest in an open world style Halo game.
Like Destiny, yea that would be pretty cool. A Halo MMO like planrtside.
My only problem with open world games (Farcry, GTA, Destiny) is they tend to have to sacrifice quality of missions (with tons of monotonous missions: go here, give this to this person) because they have to create so many side quests. I haven’t played Witcher 3, but I heard they did a pretty good job with side missions, so there is hope for open world halo I guess.

i think that you should be able to choose if you want to play in a linear way or in a open world.
I think continuing in the linear mission structure but with larger levels and more variety of approaches to the mission would be great.

How the heck would they do that well?? I don’t think it’s really feasible personally.
I agree 100% here Tsassi. Open world has been done to DEATH. Everyone is doing it now. I’m a strategy, RPG guy but like my levels. I honestly miss games that have levels. When DOOM came back in 2016? Wasn’t it… I was SUPER happy to see they did levels. I have the new farcry and rage. I like those series a lot and was pretty excited for the newest games, but when I got them and started playing, I just got really… Disinterested. I stopped playing fallout and Assassin’s Creed because I thought I was just tired of the series but I realized I’m tired of open world games and I’ve had quite a few of my friends say the same or similar.
I’ll still play the new Halo if it is open world, but no where near as much, well single player anyways. I really hope it’s levels.
