Just looking for curious people
For each Halo game, there should be a movie.
YES!!!
Yes, but to make it good it must not connect to games in anyway and must be its own separate side story.
Gonna say no.
I have yet to see a good movie based on a video game.
DOOM - dud
Assassin’s Creed - absolutely cringeworthy
Resident Evil movies (live action) - first was ok, all downhill after that
Super Mario Bros - send it to the sewers
Hitman movies - kill them and make it look like an accident
Lara Croft Tomb Raider movies - not worth raiding a bargain bin for those
Max Payne - painful to watch
I could go on, but the point is this: if they want to do live action Halo movie(s), there needs to be at least one video game movie success story beforehand.
Yhea why not we have waiting for years and still waiting so yes we need halo movies
If it’s something like We Are ODST trailer or the short live action video Landfall, I’d watch it all day. With a good story and a somewhat good connection to the video games it would be amazing. Now I do think that if there’s ever going to be a Halo movie they need to Combat Evolved, therefore those who don’t know what Halo is can have an understanding for what it’s called.
No. The time has passed where Halo was at the height of its popularity and attracted big name Hollywood executives who could have actually gotten it mostly right. Jackson, del Toro, and Blomkamp were all attached at one point around the Halo 3 time period, but if that failed to materialize I don’t see how it could be resurrected now.
As much as I liked Halo 4’s FuTD that’s probably the best we’re going to get. Nightfall was a joke, and Halo has declined in popularity since then. I’d love a Halo movie if it were done right, but that time has passed us.
No. I love Halo but the live action shows haven’t been great so far. I think Halo works best as video games and books. I don’t even like the comics that much if I’m being honest.
I can see Halo having a successful film or tv show, but there is one huge obstacle that I think might instantly ruin it. The Covenant would make a rubbish villain in a tv show or movie. So if they kept it to an all-human conflict I can see it being interesting.

I’m a big fan of the Timothy Olyphant one lol, it’s a favorite of mine. I’m not sure if it’s a “good movie” but I like it a lot

Tim didn’t embody the Agent 47 character very well for me. In fact, the only reason I even remember that movie is because of Olga.
Given how well in my opinion Forward Unto Dawn was (minus that stupid armor they had MC in) The rest of it was great! While Nightfall was just… meh to me. But I do have hope for this possibility. I just hope Sony and Fox keep their hands away from it!
YES! I’ve wanted a show or movie since combat evolved. I’m a big fan and I think if it gets a big budget and great director and writers it will be a success! We are on waypoint for HALO let’s support it guys!
I would say yes but there hasn’t been one successful movie based on a game I’d honestly like to see a few good movies of games first before they try making halo.
Ideally, I’d like Blur to be commissioned to animate a long-form TV show with half-hour episodes, maybe 8-12 episodes per season.
They’ve already created a ton of necessary assets with H2A and HW2, and using the show format as apposed to a movie would allow more time to be taken for character development and world building while providing better buildup and investment for select action scenes.
The benefit of consistent CG would also shine during these scenes, as mixing live action and CG tends to be expensive leading to compromises, case in point, Nightfall.
I think given a good writing team, they’d have literally everything they need bar the green-light from 343.
Well, and motivation, of course, implying Blur would even want to dedicate as much time to one project as that.
But, in the case of a big, Hollywood movie franchise, no.
The games themselves do…er, did, a fine job of covering main events of importance within the narrative, and we don’t need a reiteration of said events in a less interactive medium. And as much as I’d love to see one of the novels like Contact Harvest get an adaptation, I’d rather that happen through a spin-off game than a film, to be honest.

We are actually starting a petition for this.
Revive the Neill Blomkamp one as he is already using assets for the one that fell through.

if done right, halo could be an amazing movie. most video game movies don’t end up well but 343 clearly has enough passion about halo to want to make it good, but then there’s budget issues or judging from nightfall, a lack of good ideas. if a halo movie is made I think it should either be a cinematic remake of halo ce or some kind of navy story in the early covenant war. a post war one could also work but I don’t know exactly what’d it be. if 343 did a post war movie, don’t make it a full on military movie because I feel like you could make something else work a little better seeing as how we’ve got scavengers, multiple factions, and broken governments everywhere. in a way it has a bit of a starwars feeling to me. but without a doubt, blur has to be involved.

I could definitely see scope for a movie/tv series in those lines. 3 possibilities:
- UNSC Navy focussed during Covenant War. Potentially a kinda ‘lower decks’ sort of feel, or maybe something like the short story with the shipwrecked crew - UNSC vs Insurrectionist-focussed. Maybe around Operation Trebuchet explaining the rise of the Spartan-IIs. - A BSG-type of thing following refugees from a glassed planet. Given potential UNSC/Insurrectionist disagreements among a group of panicked civilians on a transport.
