should halo change its name?

I mean it’s really just a meaningless word at this point right? Correct me if I’m wrong but there hasn’t been a “halo” in a halo game since h3 right? So change the name that way 343i can design the game the want without people screaming “this isn’t halo, halo is supposed to be…”

I agree with your point in premise, because yeah, the Halo installations can’t and aren’t the focal point of the main story anymore… but unfortunately from a business angle there’s no way they could re-brand the entire franchise at this point. The best they can do is sub-title their future games…

For example - Halo 5: Guardians

When they finish this reclaimer saga, sure. But Halo has always been the first thing that comes to mind regarding the series, between all the books, specials and spin-offs. It would be foolish to change the name now

they would need to make a new IP in order to do that.

Sadly they can’t as its the whole reason why the studio was founded in the first place to make “Halo” games.

There’s no reason to change it and they’d just be shooting themselves in the foot by changing it.

The game’s don’t need a Halo to be called Halo, and by that logic I can’t figure out why Half-Life still goes by its name.

My response

H4 had a Halo, but it was a cameo appearance and you didn’t get to walk on it. Same in Halo 5 with the Legendary ending. But we could always call the franchise “The Magical Adventures of Mister Chef and Spartan Lockelz in Space”. I’m sure people would like that name change. /sarcasm.

Needs to be called Gears of Destiny: Black Ops 4

With the Halo 5 legendary ending, it seems likely we will be walking on a Halo again soon enough.

Watch the legendary ending.

I dunno, I kind of thought I would be walking on a Halo ring in Halo 4, after they showed one in the beginning of… Composer? I dunno what that mission is called, but you know what I mean.

Truuu

ODST and Wars didn’t have Halos, and Reach had just as much Halo as 5, should they not be called Halo?

Halo 4 had us orbiting installation 03.

Halos have appeared in other media, the games are not the only thing that matter. Plus Halos have appeared in both Halo 4 and Halo 5.

The legendary ending in halo 5 shows cortana lighting up the halo rings so…

It’s called Halo because everything happening is becasue of the Halos. Even though the installations are’nt necessarily in focus, every action taking place, such as the created claiming the mantle, directly linked to the firing of the Halo arrays. Also, based on the legendary ending of Halo 5, the Halo installations are about to return into focus as well, so it would just be plain stupid to rename the franchise at this point.

They should change the title after H6 given that there is a strong possibilty of another trilogy of games.

Yeah I agree, halo rings were made for the flood, ps I love the flood and we haven’t seen them since halo 3, so yes change the name
