Should Halo 6 take a Gears 4 approach?

Gears of war switched developers (as most of you know) and their first game was released to mostly high acclaim. Gears Of War 4 does not do something crazy, or drastic. It sticks to what made the other games great, and it very deeply respects Epic Games’s legacy of characters and gameplay. Instead of trying to make something new and distance themselves from the past, they embraced it and released a game that their fans enjoy. It is crucial that 343 do this. They need to respect Bungie’s legacy of gameplay and characters. (I’m looking at you Blue Team and Cortana) The Coalition have done well with Gears 4 and I think that Halo 6 has the potential to be good if 343 stops shooting themselves in the foot and changing everything constantly. (Req levels, REQS, refreshes, breakout, modes coming and going) 343 has something great on the brim…halo wars 2. The game is very reminiscent of an old Halo arts style while keeping the good of the 343 art style, this could be a great starting point.

Microsoft might be the ones making all of the bad decisions and might not even let 343 make a game like that even if they wanted to at this point.

That may be true, but isn’t MS also with GoW?

Wow, people want a franchise to stay the same in 2016?!! Get outta here w/ that man. We all know that continuing change that got us into this mess is stealing all the MOBA and COD fans!

The team for gears 4 is directly from microsoft.

Is there any proof that MS is interfering with Halo’s development, or is that just something made up by people? I’m honestly curious. I feel like I’m seeing this claim more and more lately, but I have seen literally zero evidence backing it up.

What we do know is that 343i developed Halo 4 (and Halo 5 a little bit too) with the express purpose of being different. They changed everything. Rod Fergusson, in interviews leading up to Gears 4’s release talked about how they want to stay true to the original Gears trilogy, while on the other hand 343i talked about how they want to stand out from the original Halo trilogy. There is a fundamental difference in that and it has nothing to do with MS.

Gears 4 is a perfect example of how a new developer should take on an existing franchise. Halo 4 is the complete opposite.

It’d be nice to get a game that played like classic Halo

No, the developers for Gears of War is the Coalition. Gears of War 4 is being well received compared to Halo 4 which was my point. Microsoft will probably trust the Coalition more than they trust 343.

That is absolutely why I used the qualifier “might”.

I liked the way reach allowed the customized armor by purchasing it rather than random draw. Chest plate. Each shoulder. Visor. Helmet.

I think 343 fanboys said that it’s Microsoft fault that Halo 4/5 is bad

What I’m saying is that some of the bad decisions might have been made by microsoft. For example: Microtransactions are in both Halo 5 and Gears of War 4 and is clearly a Microsoft decision. Yeah 343 is to blame for some other things. But to be blind and assume Microsoft isnt to blame for a good portion of it is just plain ignorant and doesn’t help solve any problems. Claiming that people are “343 fanboys” just reinforces the problem.

I know that MS brought the microtransactions but 343 messed the whole campaign and MP up in a really bad way.

Say what you want about multiplayer. That can be a justified argument. But we don’t know if its true or not that Microsoft made 343 rewrite the story half way through development. At the end of the day Microsoft decides what stays in the game. Just remember that it isnt solely 343’s fault.

343 way is a part if the problem - or why was Bungie so good? Blamming now Microsoft that it’s their fault that the Story is bad - sorry Marketing maybe but Not the Story xD (Multiplayer itself isnt that bad but really worse for a Halo)

This has already happened.

Halo did switch developers, and they did do something different with the game.

To bad the majority of (Bungie’s) Halo fans did not like the new approach.

How about we just let 343 Industries create their own vision of the Halo game series and see what happens!

We’ve tried that. It led to a ton of Halo fans being driven away from the franchise.

They are a subsidiary of microsoft and similar to 343i that way but I stand corrected as technically they are not directly from microsoft i guess
