Should Halo 6 have a new lead writer?

Like Chris Schlerf who wrote Halo 4, or Noah Eichen who wrote HuntTheTruth.

Both Halo 4 and HTH had amazing stories and strong dialogue, though Halo 5’s narrative was criticized for not being as good. Thoughts?

Definitely. I don’t know who, but it needs to be someone good.

As much as enjoyed the campaign I think a new lead writer might be for the best. Some moments of the story just felt quite rushed I guess
I Still enjoyed it though

Yes.

Halo 4 overall seemed to have a more solid story, despite the Didact being left a little underdeveloped if you were a player that didn’t see all the terminals or read the books. And H5 seemed to veer off into a whole other direction than what H4 seemed to be setting up for. Not to mention not enough Chief in H5. I don’t think H5 is as terrible as some people make it out to be, but maybe they should go back to Chris Schlerf as the lead.

Although I liked the story of this campaign, it felt too comic booky and rushed. I was hoping for a true detective noir style, hero gone rogue, evil sideline factions, civil war, conspiracy story. But instead we got another AI gone rampant, rise of the machines storyline. It’s not bad, but overdone. But I guess it’s what’s popular now.
I felt Halo 4 had a truly unique and personal story that reintroduced characters in a new way while also introducing a real (or at the time to be a real nemesis) villain for the Chief. While also creating themes that felt meaningful like the man-machine thing and the humans are getting too ahead of themselves stuff.

But still I’m one of those guys who is totally on board for Staten to come back. Or even have Nylund on board. But if I could, I’d also like Shlerf-Eichen team up with Greg Bears help along with community lore masters. I don’t know… One can dream of an amazing dream team, right?

That’s one epic team. I wish they had them working together.

Yes, doesn’t matter who, just not whoever wrote halo 5.

I don’t get it. Why do you want Halo 4’s writer? That campaign was also rushed as far as developing characters and felt almost pointless. I get that Chief had a little more personality in Halo 4, and the cutscenes looked great, but does that alone really make it a good campaign?

I vote for Joseph Staten to write Halo campaigns. He’s fantastic.

Joe Staten pls.

I don’t think it will happen, but yes would love to see Joseph Staten return to the franchise.

it makes it already a better story than halo 5. Halo 4 campaign wasn’t well designed but the story wasn’t bad. I like what they did to the chief. In Halo 4 we get a scene where the chief refuses to execute an order, nobody would ever think the chief would do such a thing before, that was one of my favorite moments in the series regarding the chief.

honestly didn’t get the story in halo 4, soooooo many plot holes in this new halo universe.

In short yes, A new wrighter should be chosen. honestly maybe a new studio… Microsoft, just give it to blizzard.

i suspect lots of changes happened during the halo 5 making that messed up the narrative. just look at the trailers (ei the first one with cheif in a cloak). so it wouldn’t be completely his fault. that said his job is to fix the narrative if there were major changes which he failed at. the halo community has lost hope in him so unfortunately i think a new lead writer if for the best

I just hope halo 6 isn’t fighting these stupid robotic proteans again, bring back the covenant, and the flood. Also, the hunt the truth podcast was actually better than the entire halo 5 campaign.

It would be nice, if between halo 5, and 6, we could get another halo similar to ODST, where we play through all of this in a different perspective.

Obviously, yes.

At this point I assume a new lead writer is almost guaranteed. The main reason for Halo 5 relatively low score was the weak story, and the other work of the current lead (spartan ops) was also very poorly recieved in halo 4.

yes yes yes

reed is a gifted comic writer, but not a gifted halo writer

> Halo 4

Nah.

The damage is already done. We’ve already gone “special”, we might as well just go full “special”.

oh bigtime, that was one of the worst sci-fi stories i’ve ever seen…I didn’t think it could get any more ridiculous or convoluted than halo 4 but they really pulled it off
