As you guys know, Halo, from CE to reach, Has always been based around arena-style shooting, where everyone starts off on equal footing…
Then Halo 4 came out and brought us loadouts, so instead of everyone starting off with the same stats, They have an option to customize their own arsenal with
primaries
secondary’s
grenades
Armor abilities
tact. perks
armor mods…
Now, im on the fence about this… on 1 hand, halo has always been an arena shooter, and everyone should be on equal footing from when they spawn in, with everything on the map…
But on the other hand, loadouts give us more variety and lets us make different loadouts to accommodate different situation…
I dunno, what do you guys think? why don’t you vote on what you feel?
There are playlists that don’t use loadouts at all you know.
I’ve been playing a lot of SWAT and Team Snipers for a long time now because everyone is even.
And loadouts were in Reach, they just were the beta version of what they are now in Halo 4. And so when Bungie introduced loadouts to the series, they never considered to make them customizable, which is what 343 fixed.
Overall I enjoy Halo 4. I mean, by now I’m very used to it; how fast you move, how the maps are laid out, how each of the weapons work… And when that’s all said and done, I don’t find the game really getting old. I still like it.
Halo 4 is the worst class based shooter compared to games like Team Fortress 2, Killzone 2&3. Those games are organized and balanced. Its also worse than BO2 as a create a class shooter. I’ll tell you why H4 lost a chunk of its population. Its not because its bad, its because they chose to copy features that other games do better. I dont even like COD but I’d rather play TDM than IS.
Where Halo 4 shines is its Arena playlists like Throwdown, Snipers, Legendary(I dont like current legendary settings), Pro variants. 343 should focus on expanding and evolving the Arena shooter sub genre. Not stuffing every popular gaming trend on a disc and slapping Halo on the cover.
I wish I could sit down with someone at 343 and explain to them how important a simple Team Slayer playlist is. All we need is a playlist that rotates Team BRs, Team DMRs,Team LRs TEAM ANYTHING. As long as its even starts with arena style maps, power ups AND power weapons on map.
Its so frustrating that they are holding back on a true Team Slayer mode when it would only help the game.

i think bungie had enough sense to know people would have hated it way worse had they done that. they toed the line and it worked way better than this

Then why the hell did bungie put it in? It was to compensate for the addition of abilities. You’d play a slayer game and the list of loadouts was all the same, same guns, 2 frags, but each one had a different AA which is what the names of the loadouts were. Which begs the idea of having you just pick what armor crap you want from a list, just like Halo 4 does with the tactical packages and all that. It’s technically is a better loadout system than the previous game. At least more variety.

thats all halo needed was the abilities and bam done. a little refining sure, but 343 went way too far. now it plays as a sci fi skinned call of duty.

No I mean if they wanted to make a list of stuff for you to pick from, why list the freaking same guns over and over? If your gonna do that just make one list.
343 made bungies loadout idea make sense.

i cant say this loud enough
BALANCE
you only needed the aa. the same guns and frags and all else should be identical for everyone.

That’s what I’m saying. If I can’t pick any other gun than an assault rifle, then why do I have to see 5 different choices that all have the same gun?

That is essentially what 343 wanted to do, from the start, for players, to play to their own play-style.

ah i understand you now, my apologies for the confusion.
the loadouts are there in reach with the same gun, but there are many choices of armor abilities, and for the mods in h4 are normal abilities that were included in every other game as normal mechanics ie, grenade pick up, faster shield recharge, ammo, etc. why would i want to have to pick between my normal abilites becaused they stripped them?
