Should Halo 4 have firefight

Halo 4 should have firefight because it would be awesome killing Promethean and covenant plus the flood at the same time. It would bring gamers a bigger experience for gamers. Also it would be better to have firefight because if you had firefight in halo 3 odst you had it in Halo Reach and Halo Combat Anniversary so why can’t it be in Halo 4. And they should put it in the Majestic map pack.

It wouldn’t be finished in time for Majestic map pack, and what scares me is the fact that 343 said last spring that they had no plans to bring back FF.

I believe that Halo needs a challenging survival mode to keep Halo 4’s replay value up. Black Ops has it, Gears has it, Reach has it, and Halo 4 needs it for it’s thrill of survival. Spartan Ops is not a survival mode and has no challenge what so ever. It’s fun, but even if SpOps had LASO, you can still beat it eventualy, so it’s impossible to lose a SpOps mission. On top of that, it’s online play only and is only there for entertainment and episode sales. Firefight on the other hand is a whole other beast. Bring it back.

EDIT: I still like to xp grind SpOps, love the videos, and believe SpOps is a keeper, but Halo 4 is an amputee without Firefight.

I never understood how someone finds Firefight interesting. It’s like being trapped in one, small piece of campaign, playing it over and over again, without being able to go on.
I prefere Spartan Ops, which at least has some backstory attached to it. But still, there is nothing better than fighting human opponent.

You know…thats a tough question. Aftet two months of playing Spartan Ops, i find it to be more enjoying than FF. Although, i do miss FF and the announcer calling out the medals and sprees. Personally, it would be cool to see them both.

I loved firefight, played it all the time with my son and even though it was the same thing it was cool because it would play out differently each time, try out new things with different weapons and AA’s. Its survival mode - simple but fun.

The first thing I looked for in Halo 4 was firefight and disappointed to find its replacement SpOps could only be played online with 2 GOLD accounts…

I don’t see them adding Firefight to Halo4 and if they did it would be watered down and not very fun due to wrangling their own engine to handle it, lag, and team killers. It should return to Halo 5 and if anything they should release some new fire fight maps for Reach to give it some legs in 2013. I know they can’t or won’t but the firefight experience is better on Reach due to Bungie Covenant designs and how their Ai responds over how Halo 4’s Ai react in a Limited game or even arcade. Too bad ODST never had matchmaking.

Plus Reach has the Grenade Launcher and AAs that are better geared for Firefight where in Halo 4 they are neutered for the pvp crowd.

It’s about the thrill of survival. Most people digg that feeling. Maybe 343 can bring that thrill out a little better than Bungie did. We will never know unless they try. Besides, SpOps has no challenge, because you can’t lose. Firefight gets harder as you fight to stay alive.

What I like about Firefight: The Survival Element, having a certain amount of lives, limited ammunition, having to pick up enemy weapons, just surviving the onslaught and the scoring element and skulls making each wave slightly more difficult.

What I like about Spartan OPs: The Narrative, being sent on missions in enviornments from both the campaign and multiplayer, playing with enemy AI like spartans, fighting lots of enemies like 6 hunters at a time, using vehicles, and the episodic cinematics.

That being said, I miss firefight and it would be so awesome if it came back and was as great as ODST (note: I liked Halo Reach Firefight, but Arcade Fight spoiled the population and had gamers not strive to survive, in ODST and the limited variant that Reach had, survival was key which did incorporate teamwork and being the last man standing and surving and showing off your skills to other players hoping you survive was a great experience.

Spartan OPs can use improvements and be more challenging then it is now. I hope 343i realizes this, and instead of ramping up the difficulty, do something new that challenges the player and focuses them to stay alive as a team, this is a team of Spartan IV’s not a team of Lone Wolves with the same objective.

me and my old roommate would get into a firefight game, make it pretty easy and pretty fun (150% damage 400% melee 200% damage resistance 125% sprint unlimited AA etc) and we would just play for hours. no joke. it was so much fun, i think out longest running game time was like 1:50:00 almost two hours. lol we did that all the time (1+ hour long games) until living dead became our new thing.

Every game after ODST should have had firefight or at least they should have let us customize Spartan ops anyway we want.

Both would have been awesome. I guess it’s too late now

Now it is up to dlc.

No. I’d rather have a full campaign.

No more Firefight. No more Spartan Ops.

The Co-op experience in Halo 4 campaign was very lacking. It all went to Spartan Ops.

Whenever I crave FF, I play Spartan Miller in SpOps. At least that one you can fail.

@Sliding Ghost, what do you mean? That 343i should make the Campaign better before focusing on FF or SpOps?

yes but only Firefight Limited. arcade is stupid

Well you’ll notice there’s a lack of Co-op easter eggs which were very prevalent in Reach.

Also, it seems Co-op scaling is missing in the campaign. Granted Co-op Legendary has always been easier but the encounters don’t seem to change at all.

And of course, Spartan Ops has much more enemy scale. The campaign has excellent pacing but I feel that some areas could use more enemies.

Last but not least, Spartan Ops has some clever uses of Prometheans, such as that surprise appearance in front of the objective on The Didact’s Gift and giving the Incineration Cannon to other Knight variants (Lancer, Battlewagon).

Lastly, Spartan Ops has a level where marines can kick -Yoink- (though they are invincible). Hacksaw is one of my favorites. :3

I think 343 were being a bit too humble when they let that team of marines named after them disappear without a trace when I returned to the Composer. I mean they had 2 Mantises with them and marines opperating machine guns. How could they fail to hold the Composer (at least until I returned)?! I’d have liked to see those marines have better AI than other marines (like those marine prisoners on Truth and Reconciliation in CE).

Lets not forget that many of us loved odst firefight. As much as I despised REach’s, I am now finding out that I am craving that sense on survival. It doesn’t exist in SPops; you can easily breeze through it. I like Spops for its continuous movement of incorporating area. I don’t really like being stuck in one spot. Knowing enemy spawn points absolutely blows.

Why not try a hybrid? Make the level have a sense of mission, but have so that people aren’t allowed many lives. YES! That’s what we are missing; a live limiter. That will help with survival. Bigger maps to explore. I’m sure they can make a hybrid happen…

Only if it gets an upgrade.

Spartan Ops does have a few things that Firefight never did. There’s the huge vehicle battles like those in missions like Land Grab, The VIP, and Shootout in Valhalla. It also uses the complete Halo sandbox including the Scorpion, Mantis, all three Warthog variants, and drivable Banshees. There seems to be a lot more enemies on the field at once, too.

Bringing that stuff to Firefight would make it far more entertaining, along with Personal Ordnance (so long as it doesn’t spawn too many Rocket Launchers) and Custom Loadouts. But they CANNOT just recycle the Firefight mode from Halo:Reach, as much fun as it was; they need to upgrade it further.

Oh lord I can already see the problems with a life meter in Spartan Ops since 343i thinks a “challenge” is just spawning a lot of high-level enemies with fuel rods.
