Should Grenades Be Included in Weapon Drills?

Weapon Drills is a really great addition to the Halo experience. Getting your hands on the weapons is a great way to onboard your combat experience for new and old players alike. I really enjoyed it.

But it left me wondering why grenades were not included in the weapon drills? Plasmas, frags and spikes behave quite differently and I could see from a new players perspective it would be a no brainer to include grenades in weapon drills as well. Grenades are a core part of Halo gameplay and it would be great to familiarize yourself and practice with them, especially since the Halo Infinite throwing range is a bit different from Halo 3 and other titles.

Is there any known specific reason why grenades were not included? And can we expect to see them in future weapon drills?

I had a retrospective thought about the technical preview as I usually make reflections and conclusions post experience. However I cannot provide any Infinite Feedback through the proper channels as they are all closed now so I hope it’s okay to open this thread, sorry if not.

They should for sure be included. Halos grenades have long had a distinct learning curve game to game.

I think it would be enough to include them in some sort of sandbox firing range. It would be cool the give them their own weapon drills with star ratings and such though.

What way does infinite hand out grenades, do enemies drop them or pickups only?

Both. You start with 2 frags and you can pick up nades through various points on the map.

Grenades are not really know as a weapon like all we see in Halo, but a liitle practice with them is not a bad idea

Absolutely, as you definitely don’t use plasmas or frags the same way and drills can give you an idea on the best way to bounce a frag or the trajectory required for a sticky.

No, because the weapons drills are to train/improve you with the specific weapon of the drill having grenades defeats the purpose of the drill. But the best way to include them would be to have grenade drills.

I think you misunderstood. A grenade is a weapon. The drill would just be grenades not a combination of grenades and firearms.

I read very badly and saw something else…
Sorry^^

Frag grenades, plasma grenades, spike grenades (all grenades) should be in weapons drills for sure. In the tech preview frag grenades and spike grenades were easy to adjust to plasma grenades were not behaving like halo 5 plasma grenades. The throw was somewhat off and inaccurate. I am sure custom games or weapons drills will get us going.

There should definitely be weapon drills for grenades.

I feel the grenades in Halo Infinite is like was Halo 4. To me is really perfect of that the nades be included in Weapons Drills.

I think if they added grenades, they would need to completely redo the drill map. My biggest thing would be, teaching people how to bounce grenades around corners/over cover. And right now the current drill map can only really do the behind cover as it has no walls to bounce off of.

It would be a great addition but would probably be hard to program the scenarios because of how different the grenades behave and the realistic uses we see in our matches. A lot of grenade kills and grenade skill uses come from bouncing the grenades off of walls and hitting enemies trying to hide. Especially frag grenades. So to me it seems it would take more effort to design it due to this. Grenades out in the open are 1 thing, but how would you propose the 3 different difficulties

I couldn’t agree more with this. Each game the way grenades come out of the hub changes and differ. Add to it how there have been various grenades in each game too!

Everything in the sandbox should be included in drills. Grenades, equipment, and all the weapons. I hope that in the future they can evolve this mode into something we can make custom challenges and make our own combat puzzles for through forge. The most popular ones can be advertised and everyone can compete for a high score.

Same as the firearms in the drill.

Easy: standing bots
Medium: bots with limited and linear movement
hard: multiple bots with advanced movement and using cover

I like this. Really everything that you can throw, shoot or do in the game should be put into the training grounds.

Yeah, grenades should be in the weapon drills. It would be neat if the game could teach new players how grenades fit into combat and how you use them. Grenades in Halo are a bit different- they aren’t exactly on a timer.

Why weren’t they included? Well, it could be that it was just the first technical preview. Not all weapons even made an appearance in the flight. It could also be that they didn’t think to do it. I don’t have any word for sure if they’re going to be in future weapon drills.
