Should Grenade Shooting Have Been Totally Removed?

So in the patchnotes from last month, 343 stated that you could no longer shoot grenades out of mid-air. Now I know this feature was way more prominent in the Beta than any other Halo game to date but did it really warrant a full cut?

I think instead they should just adjust the hitbox on the grenade so it is much smaller and harder to pull off.

And if it is going to stay totally cut from multiplayer, will it stay in campagin?
I had a couple of those moments in Halo 4 the other day which were great and I would hate for this feature to be totally removed from the game.

Thoughts?

In real life shooting a grenade is more likely to disable it than make it explode. I don’t mind it being in the game but it was just far too common in the Beta. Now, maybe deflecting grenades by shooting them could be something worth trying.

It was one of those “little things that made Halo Halo.” Developers fail to realize how important they can be

I totally agree. All it needed was a toning down.

Right after they said this was being removed, I was watching TV and saw a MythBusters episode. Guess what? It was about shooting a grenade. Grenades will be disabled or destroyed by some guns, and activated by another. I think shooting it after it bounces once should blow it up, otherwise it becomes a dud if shot right away.

I think it was a little too lethal, especially with Halo 5’s holy hand grenades and it also happened way too often. I remember it barely happening to me if at all in Halo 3 and Reach. It was much more common in Halo 4 though not by much. It happened all the time in the beta and is just really annoying because nobody purposefully shoots the grenade out of the air. Yea it’s one of those cool little things about Halo, but at the same time it’s super random and can turn around a fight you should clearly lose. I think it’d be cool if it just neutralized the momentum and the grenade still had a chance to hurt the thrower, but instant explosions? Yea I can’t say I’ll miss it.

Happen much to often in the beta.

Grenade shooting should be a matter of precise aim. Even I managed to shoot some grenades out of the air, and I was not aiming for them, the bullets were near it and made them explode

Happened way too much in the beta and if we have to choose between too much or not at all, I just the latter.

Oh I don’t know it adds an element of wtf?! don’t you guys agree? I kinda like that wtf?! moment, especially in Halo.

You cant shoot grenades out of the air anymore? Well that is silly. To be honest, that sounds like a bug more than a fix.

Grenades are spam.

Plus shooting them in mid air requires skill. Halo 5 should try to be more competitive/ skill based, amirite?

Plus what would happen in real life if you shot a grenade in mid air?

No offense, but every time you actually shot a grenade out of pure air, it was mostly based on bad luck on the enemy and your line of fire managed to be in the hand where he threw his grenade. Nowhere have I ever seen enemies throwing grenades out of long distances with the person they’re targeting intentionally shooting it and with that, I mean you actually take your sights off the enemy and aim at the grenade and shoot it. They may require skill to shoot, but everyone has shot the grenades out of complete accident and never because they intentionally did it

Get rid of it. All it produced was occasional random annoyances. It did not engage the player to any capacity and produced only inconsistency with expectations of results. It felt about as productive to gameplay as lag or frame rate drop.

That would be neat.

Let me ask you this, did you notice it in Halo reach and Halo 4? Because it was there, just not as pronunced.

Too much magnetism caused it to be troublesome, so I guess it’s for the better.

So they should just reduce the magnetism, no? Why remove the whole feature?

It added NOTHING. Honestly this is long over due.

It only adds randomness, something that everyone here hates.
