Game chat always kills the experience, and I don’t see why that is an option for any game. No one wants to hear some 8 year old saying he fed your Mom or some Teens calling random people "Stupid n**s". And with the Hot Fix update, a bug appeared making it impossible to mute them anymore. So why should it remain in the game? I seriously don’t get the point in having it in the game in the first place, can someone please explain that to me?
Excuse me for my language, but believe it or not, I literally just heard this on my last match. As well as some kid cursing at people for having Energy Swords or getting a kill on him while he stands there and does nothing. I honestly think that Banhammer to my head is better than this
You can turn it off yourself… you don’t don’t have to try to get something removed just because you don’t like it.
There is a mute button…
Believe it or not, some players use it to communicate tactics and callouts and to make friends.
Also, poll options are horrible.
Game chat stays, any person that annoys me is muted and when appropriate gets a report with a nice comment.
Well the problem is, the mute button doesn’t work for most people. And if people are going to do callouts, they should join a party. I’m sorry for being rude.
And I’m just trying to get in with the community more, but it seems that Microsoft screwing me over for pre-ordering the game and not allowing me to play the Beta wasn’t enough. And look, I’m only 12, alright? So I’m pretty stupid, resulting in this poll. So is everything cleared up?

Well I think there’s an option somewhere for voice communication on the xbox. If there isn’t you can plug the headset in if you still have it and leave it off.
Some players use party chat if they are within an established party. Others who solo will communicate with the randoms they are with. On occasion there are those who start calling out and try to do some tactics.
Other times the established party isn’t big enough for the whole team so some randoms will be in, and when the party calls out the others benefit from it.
Party chat is great, but game chat has its uses.
If i’m not mistaken there is a actual Xbox One setting to automatically mute in-game voice chat. If not this should be a thing by now.
However this is a gaming console and it’s purpose is to bring people together socially and mentally, so taking this feature off all together would be a step backward and Microsoft would never approve.

I’m not sure, but there is something called, I don’t know, creating a party? Creating a party is literally the only way to mute people if this “glitch” (doesn’t happen to me, and there is no proof of it anyway). Since 90% of the time I play solo, and I still want to run some callouts, should I join a party where most of my friends are playing GTA? Or should I create my own solo party where I wade in crippling lonelyness? Also, by admitting you’re twelve, you literally just made things worse for yourself, because it makes a reason for people to believe your sensitive when people talk trash in game chat.

People do occasionally like to talk to each other. I’ve made quite a few friends on live over the years. While those you refer to are the majority that doesn’t mean the feature is useless. The mute glitch has been a thing since well before the hot fix and I agree it is something that needs changed. Just report the offensive ones and eventually Microsoft will mute their mics for you.
wow people are becoming pathetic. people getting offended by random ‘8 year olds’ should not be whats killing competitive multiplayer and causing so many people to stop using their mics. like wtf are you going to do when you get a job and real people say the same stuff to you. you cant just mute them and cry to yourself.

Game chat does NOT always kill the experience.
Loud, rude, ignorant, racist, and players with distracting background noise does.
And if you don’t see the point of a multiplayer game having in game chat, I hope you’re trolling, because it’s pretty self explanatory.
Some of us have actually made a lot of friends chatting with random people in the lobby and during the game over the years. Some of us actually use it to communicate strategy. Why would they remove that option entirely when YOU have to option to not hear anyone during the game, if you don’t want to?

This is LITERALLY the WORST attempt i’ve ever seen at trying to create a controversial thread to get hella replies to. There’s a mute button. Go be low quality on reddit or -Yoink!-.
This thread should be locked for spam.
It would be nice to have the option to toggle it off by default. (Haven’t seen this option in halo 5… it was around in halo reach and halo 3… why was it removed?)
As for the kids, as everyone else stated, just report them and move on. Until 343 has the option of where a user can toggle game chat like they could in earlier halo games, you’re stuck having either having to manually mute game chat, or deal with the people on it.

“Go be low quality somewhere else”
He’s addressing an issue, and seeking a solution. It might not be the best of questions or topics, but just because it’s controversial does not instantly mean it’s low quality.

Doesn’t like gamechat
Doesn’t realize that:
Can mute all except for in party
Can sit in a party chat alone
Can mute select players
*Doesn’t have to play the game at all
Game chat isn’t an issue. Him making a thread about him not being able to figure out how to push back + ‘X’ at the same time obviously is. By far the most LQ thread i’ve ever seen.

I’ve seen worse, but I guess we all have our own opinions when it comes to this thread.
What? No way. That would literally kill the game for so many solo-queuers, with no option to call out or communicate we would just get -Yoink- on by 4-man fireteams. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it should be removed.
Improving the audio mute system would go a very long way in improving the gaming experience. Some of us only want to hear:
- The Game’s background music
- In game notifications, like when the bases are captured, etc.
- All in game sounds.
The constant chatter and unrelated noise is pain the listen to when it’s around. Some use it like a social meet up or phone call.
Why not just get your team together and do a custom game/party instead? You can blast and talk all you want then.
cough cough mute button
cough cough solo party
cough cough man up and stop crying about some “eight year olds”… -_-
I solve this my sitting in a solo party
But I find a lot of people that are loud and rude, but there are a decent amount of good people who actually aren’t annoying and are friendly
