Should every dev just copy Bungie’s work for the rest of Halo? Something about that way of thinking seems drastically flawed to me. I actually commend 343 and H5 for mixing it up.
Basically some people want 343 and future devs of Halo to be a cover band of Bungie. I appreciate Bungie and the work they did, but I’m not looking for every Halo to be a cover of the work they did.
At every point you need to have tour own original material. I believe that 343 came up with an orginal Halo to the series in Halo 5. They weren’t trying to be some cover band. Granted they do throw in some classics to appeal to the fans, but it’s not just playing someone else’s song.
Every artist has influences into the music they make. I’m sure Bungie was an influence into this Halo, and future devs of Halo will have Bungie and 343 as influences. It’s the whole artistic process and the way things grow. I know this isn’t music, just using it as an analogy.
Same as music some people like the classic stuff and hate the new albums, and others like the new albums and hate the classic stuff. Some people apppreciate the new and old, enjoy the work for what it was. It’s called having an eclectic taste. I don’t think these battles will every end in the community because of tastes, but don’t be surprised if someone wants to creat something that’s original.
Edit: Deal with the spelling ;), was trying to poop at work and write this at the same time.
I mean, I’ll gladly take a copy & paste of what Bungie did over what 343 is doing. If 343 wants to be so original, they shouldn’t be working on a franchise that had 10 years under it’s belt before they showed up.

That’s you prefered taste, I’m more eclectic. You can’t really blame them for that, did you want the game to die?

It’s currently dying as we speak due to their obsession with “modernizing”. They can’t fix what ain’t broke.
I dont want 343 to copy bungie, i want them to make future halo games look like sequels to the original halo games. Halo 3 to halo 5 is like bo2 to bo3 if you see what im getting at with them both adding advanced movement systems and calling it inovation and yet the cod community almost unanimously wants a classic cod game. I respect your opinion but sales have clearly dropped alot since the introduction to the new movement. I want a new halo game that looks like a sequel to the original trilogy and inovates in aspects other than gameplay, for example, bungie nailed halos gameplay formula after halo 2 so what do they do, they add forge in halo 3. Bam.
Sure, copy all the good stuff Bungie did and implement original, good ideas too. 343’s hardly doing either of those things.

There’s nothing to suggest it would be doing worse than it is now (which is not very good at all, relatively speaking).
Nothing 343 does is original. It’s all copied from other games.

From whom did they copy thrusters?

But Halo started to die when Reach came out. Up until 2010. That’s 9 years going strong.
Classic Halo didn’t get a chance to die, it just changed.
If they want to make something new they should make a new IP.
Don’t fix what isn’t broken.
If it needed to change, why is Reach, 4, and 5 the most controversial games with evidence pointing to a lower population?
Why did Halo 3 survive 2 of the best COD’s, and remained in the Top 3 while Halo 5 can’t even get past Destiny? Was change necessary? If I want something new, I play a different franchise.
Are you going to sit there and tell me that Battlefield needs to change and add boost jumping to stay relevant?

Bungie did in fact break Halo. Reach introduced paper vehicles and armor abilities. I swear it seems like they tried to -Yoink- up their franchise on the way out.
So you don’t want 343 to copy Bungie, but instead you want then to copy what every other game out there is doing?
I’m sorry, but I’d rather have them copy what made Halo successful as opposed to making the same generic shooters that we have plenty of already.
What 343 did isn’t “unique”, “original”, or “new” in any way. All they’ve done is look at what other popular games are doing and copied them. And that’s not me just saying it. A dev from 343 said it himself during his speech at GDC earlier this year.
Also, no reasonable person wants 343 to copy exactly what Bungie did. We just want familiar gameplay that’s improved and innovated upon. Throwing in random abilities and copying other games isn’t “improving” or “innovating”, otherwise Reach would’ve been praised for being so “innovative”, which we all know it wasn’t, at least not gameplay-wise.

What game out there does Halo playlike right now? I can’t think of one.

You saying it’s dying doesn’t really hold weight with me in this, where are your stats?

What sales numbers are you comparing? Past them in the reply, I want to see them.

What parts are copied? Halo 5 plays differently to me than any other shooter out to me right now.

Considering Detiny is on two platforms it makes sense. Also PS4 has sold more consoles than Xbox 1.
I’m sick of the Bungie fanboys thinking that going back is the best. Art style is one thing sure, but the gameplay? If you released Halo 2 as a brand new title, not a remaster or anything, in today’s market it would fail horribly.
