Should duel wielding return?

Should dual wielding return with several weapons. Just the side kick. Or the side kick, bulldog and commando?
Personally, just the side kick would be interesting. But duel wielding the bulldog or commando in infection would be interesting

So I’m all for dual wielding to return, but not in the same way it was implemented in H2 and H3. In those games, a large volume of the weapon sandbox could be mixed and matched as you find them on the ground, and everyone knows that really threw weapon balancing for a loop.

BUT, duel wielding could return if duelie weapons were picked up and dropped as one weapon entity. They would basically be one weapon you pick up, but you would pick up akimbo duelies.

Like if you’re looking at a wall rack, inside the rack it would have 2 SMG’s. The action prompt would be “hold X to pick up Duel SMG’s”, and then you trade your gun out for the akimbo SMG’s.

This would let 343 have way more control over duel weapon combos and balance without it negatively impacting the rest if the sandbox :grinning:.

I would love dual wielding to come back, but I think they would have to totally rebalance everything because a person could wreck shop with dual sidekicks for example

Yeah, I was thinking. If you kill someone, you can pick up their sidekick to dual with your own. This would Mean that if you are say half shield, you could stand a better chance if a second person rushes you. Making for some interesting plays

Dual welding as one entity is the only true way I think they could maintain proper balance, they could even do damage tuning so say if you were dual wielding needlers, it wouldn’t do 2x the damage of a single needler but maybe like 1.3-1.5x the damage of a single needler. Some combos if doing the full damage of each weapon would just be too strong.

I kind of like the idea of only pistol type weapons to have it. Would be fun to run a plasma pistol and a sidekick together or a disruptor and a sidekick.

Yea, but then you’re just opening up the “mix n match” duel wielding can of worms, which is why duel wielding got cut in the first place.

Specific “akimbo duelies” would resolve this problem, and keep from having to nerf single versions of weapons that would be duel wieldable.

That’s what I mean. akimbo sidekick with sidekick only. No mix n match as it may mess with balance

They already did that in 3. When you dual wield, you are trading grenades and melee for raw firepower aka 2x firepower. Nerfing it to 1.5x kinda defeats the purpose dont you think

I like the idea of it coming back provided the dual wieldable weapons aren’t on maps normally. Feel like they have no space in the sandbox for weaker weapons.

Would love to see them for escalation mode, customs, dual wield slayer variants and Fiesta.

That’s why I suggested a slower reload. Maybe 1.5x slower

while dual wielding(aside from needlers) you always had slower reload than when not

I’d be fine with dual-wielding coming back, but I find the Sidekick to be a fine enough weapon as is, I don’t think it needs me firing two at the same time without heavy penalties, to which one would then need to ask what’s the point? And while I would maybe like the Bulldog to be dual-wielded, it has enough problems that I feel needing two and hoping to get two at the same time is admitting there’s a problem whilst making it purposefully difficult to solve.
