Should duel wielding make a return in halo 5?

I really don’t care what the doubters say, it was a good mechanic. If it wasn’t, Bungie would have trashed it when they were making halo 3. But instead they kept it and perfected it, balancing stuff like taking out duel needlers, adding new duel wield weapons, and modifying the damage tables to help encourage duel wielding. And those who didn’t want to duel wield could always stick with the good old ar.

I think AA’s in reach and halo 4 were a poor replacement for duel wielding. I just feel like I got a lot more entertainment out of shredding someone with dual smg’s than I do thrusting away from an enemy or blocking bullets with a shield temporarily only to be killed after it runs out. Flying around the map with a jet pack? Please, we have banshees for that.

Of course every mechanic has its flaws. Duel wielding had the plasma pistol-magnum combo. Except that flaw is limited to close quarters, and a competent ar or br user could easily counter it at mid range.

Bringing back duel wielding would also open up new possibilities, like duel suppressors. And as crazy as it sounds, the boltshot could have its damage modified so that it takes two to one shot kill someone with a charge shot. Halo 3 did this with the mauler, and it wasn’t a problem.

TL;DR: I just think that duel wielding was such a good mechanic. It was a shame to see it go, and I hope that 343i can bring it back and make it work in halo 5.

Absolutely, dont see why they took it out.

More firepower at the risk of your accuracy, makes sense to me and it was a cool feature

I bet Microsoft told Bungie and then 343 to take and leave it out, but I don’t know why. It was pretty bad-yoink!- to go in with dual SMGs.

I would love to see double SMG’s

Dual Wielding>AAs

I also failed to mention that halo was one of the first major fps games to implement it. COD actually took the idea from halo and made akimbo weapons for MW2. And yet while to this day every COD up to Black Ops 2 still has the option, halo as since then removed it. :frowning:

No. Dual wielding wasn’t that great.

I’d rather them work on other things then worry about adding dual wielding.

Like, likable protagonists.
Interesting villains.
Better A.I.
Variety in missions.

i just want see every gun brought back for more choices in load outs and Full weapon choice for load outs.

Dual wielding is as gimmicky as it gets. (In Halo) It doesn’t double your fire power for balancing purposes.

> Dual wielding is as gimmicky as it gets. (In Halo) It doesn’t double your fire power for balancing purposes.

Because AAs totally add depth to gameplay…

Oh wait, they don’t.

I don’t really care either way. Dual wielding really wasn’t anything that special, and it was probably easier to just take it out. There weren’t that many weapons you could dual wield anyways.

a thousand time yes. I liked this mechanic. It was fun.

Plus if palmer is smart enough to do it then why cant we?

Im sorry you feel that way. And yes, I definitely agree that campaign development should come first.

I’d love for dual wielding to make a return.

those needlers…

Yes yes yes yes! I was a huge fan of Dual Wielding back in Halo 2.

OPINION:
The SMG and the pistol (before they nerfed it) was unstoppable! Crazy fast Kill speed! I’m pretty sure five quick pistol shots accompanied by SMG spray would do it. Not many people used that combo, but if you could stay on their head you could take out the sword from close range before he got you, you could also stop the plasma pistol/BR combo from mid range, and just about everything else short of long range guns. I feel like an old man talking about the glory days of past. But Damn! It was awesome. I’d love to see it come back. Good poll question:)

YES. I loved duel wielding so much. Even when it wasn’t such as great idea I always felt awesome carrying two SMG’s or pistols etc On top of that it makes the games much more replay able because your not using the same weapons every game, your using combinations of them. Also it makes sense canonically. We’re Spartans who can turn a Elephant on its side, but we CAN’T HOLD TWO WEAPONS AT THE SAME TIME? Of course duel wielding must be well balanced otherwise it ruins the game or becomes a useless gimmick. At the very least give it to us in Campaign and whatever co-op option they have (Firefight, Spartan Ops) So yes, I want it in Halo 5 (Along with my SMG!!!)

they could easily bring this back in… I think? plus from what ive seen, they’ve done a great job at balancing. im sure some disagree with me on the balancing part but ive played games from COD to transformers fall of cybertron, and I’d say the devs for halo have done a much better job in that category, so I wouldnt see why not. it may be disliked by some at first but im sure they would tune it over time/feedback.

Duel wielding made it back to Halo 4!

Haven’t you used the Mantis…it’s duel wielding.

emphatic hell no please.

You need to add a third option to your poll. “Don’t Care either way” When I was playing Halo 3 I rarely ever used dual weapons. I hardly ever found myself faced off with players that were using them either. Maybe your experiences were different with them, but as for me, I don’t care either way if they are in or out in Halo 5.
