Should dedicated servers be removed?

I lagged less on P2P, and by the looks of things so have many others. If you’ve never experienced this problem then maybe you live next to a server. I have Verizon fios. No reason I should be getting shot through walls, 2 shot with the BR (6 shots for me to kill), watching every kill transform into assists, and getting kills from the grave with my pistol.

I think dedicated servers should be removed from matchmaking and replaced with P2P until they can figure out what went wrong with them. (If that’s even technically possible)

Anyone else in my boat? Great internet with terrible lag?

H5 is the least laggy FPS I’ve ever played. Perhaps I’m lucky that I live near servers but to be honest I have no idea where they are.

No, dedicated is way better than p2p.

Hell no. I’ll take dedicated over p2p any day. The servers are great if you’re in the right area, 343 just needs to get them setup better and they’d be appreciated much more than now. I don’t think we’ll see dedicated servers be scrapped unless it becomes an issue for the mass. People have wanted dedicated servers since the original halo games.

I have similar issues - but appears to be random. I still think 343 has some faulty matchmaking code that occasionally puts me (I imagine this happens to others) out on US west coast servers even though I’m in Ohio. Out of all the azure servers - the ones out on the west coast most closely resemble the level of packet loss I encounter (I usually don’t get the lag out d/c - but get 5-10 seconds of unresponsiveness - which is way worse IMO). I lag on no other game. Destiny was fine, diablo fine, dragon age fine. Then of course - if you live far enough away - you will lag for sure. Sounds like you have good internet - which is funny because I’ve seen people saying they have 10 dl, 1ul say they have no issue on support forums lol.

I’m jealous.

It’s all about perspective.
I prefer the old P2P tbh - which is sad. I was most excited for the dedicated servers feature for halo 5.

I was excited for dedicated servers when they were announced as a feature for the Master Chief Collection. Sadly, it felt like I was playing on a P2P connection.

Dedicated is superior in just about every way unless your located far away from said server. I have always hated p2p and I never want to go back to it.

Dedicated is way better, and i only experience lag maybe 1-50 games? Nowhere near call of duty lag…

No it isn’t, you really don’t know what you’re saying. The only reason to prefer p2p would be if you were guaranteed host, which would give you an unfair advantage. But the vast majority of the time(about 7 out of 8) it’ll be hosted on someone else’s Xbox, giving them the advantage. And you prefer that? Lol!

This.

OP actually wants black screen, host migration, and standby cheaters back? Good riddance.
I get very few games where lag actually impacts gameplay, and it’s usually caused by someone else’s -Yoink- internet causing them to teleport.
