Should Cortana Return In Halo 5?

She was my favorite character…so yeah.

Maybe not until the end of the game though.

I really don’t know, her death in Halo 4 would be in vain, but it would be a pretty emotional and one of the most important and memorable scenes in the franchise, but i really dont know

I say no, simply because it would create a more realistic feel. I know a sci fi shooter doesn’t have to succumb to realism, but knowing THAT version of cortana is dead forever actually makes the universe feel alive, and like things happen. Characters can die, and they’re not going to magically reappear because people want them back.

She should come back, but not until the end of the game or until Halo 6.

Yes!!!

Cortana is dead… Bringing her back would be like bringing back Johnson. It’s poor story telling on so many levels. It would lessen the impact of her death, and there’s absolutely no reason for her to return. If Chief needs companions, give him Blue Team.

No, but her ghost should.

No thanks.

Absolutely not

Master chief has gone rouge from the U.N.S.C and has returned to the ark because he remembered talking to mendicant bias through the arks forrunner network (the terminals)
Now,
If we look at mendicant bias’s history
When he was compromised by offensive bias was framented to 1 billion forrunner ships so he would not be able to do any more damage
But,
What if cortana fragmented herself into the forrunner network to keep herself Alive
(If you don’t believe that then take a look at how she acted in halo 4, she had very little memory, she was highly corrupted, and could not split herself into a different system)
If she did do this then she would have to have all her fragmented pieces brought back together to rebuild her,
Now,
When mendicant bias was in the forrunner network he claimed “I have found the shard they have hidden from me”
Every guardian requires a energy shard to support itself and house the consciousness inside
The bird in the trailer could be a prototype type of guardian that was kept on the ark and he could have managed to get out of the forrunner network and Into the shard that was inside the guardian bird taking control of it
And you may be asking,
Why the hell would Master Chief be talking to mendicant bias?
Well,
Cortana did upload herself into the forrunner network and she did have access to many restricted forrunner actions in the network
If she did fragment herself into the forrunner network while mendicant bias was in the network too then he would have surely known where the fragmented pieces were
So,
If he knows where the pieces are then he can tell Chief where to find them in the network and save cortana
That’s why in the trailer chief is talking to him
Because mendicant bias knows where her fragmented pieces are and Chief is going to find them with him
That also explains why chief saved the AI Chip that cortana was in
Because when they do rebuild her he can upload her back into the chip and have her back again
But,
You may be asking
Then where would all the action and covenant be?
If we remember from the first halo captain Keyes said “if they get her the will know everything” so she has very precious data on human military strategies and it would be very useful to the covenant against the humans
So,
Pretty much the covenant will be fighting against Chief again so they can get the fragmented pieces of cortana and use the data to learn the humans battle strategies and wipe out humanity

She’s dead. If the Gravemind wishes to use a specter of her as a way to manipulate Chief as we know he has the ability to do (and in this context I mean a full-sized illusion of her not the Cortana moments from Halo 3), then yes. Any other context? No, unless 343 wants to undermine one of the only things the Halo 4 campaign did right.

Please dont bring Cortana back,it would make Halo 4 pointless.I like it in past Halo games that some major characters have died,it makes the story so much better and more intense that no one is safe in my opinion.

As a an IT student, i know that security copies exist, and that makes me think that, given Cortana’s ability to create clones of herself, she might have created a security copy, maybe still rampant, that lives now in the forerunner network. She could even have sent a message to the Chief, which would explain why he went rogue and decided to go to a forerunner planet with the chip.

Chief wont be whole again until cortana is back imo. She should come back, but perhaps not until the end of the game.

Really though, we just need to get chief a Windows Phone, then he’ll be all set.

Well…this is a bit complicated. I want her to appear as a sort of phantom, appearing as an illusion projected by the Chief’s mind while he somberly walks alone–think Altair from AC Revelations.

Not sure… Story telling and script wise no, this is not family guy… In regards to the gameplay however yes, because let’s be honest, MC doesn’t talk a whole lot, so playing parts of the campaign with no words at all is not very appealing. Tough one…

No, because she died for a reason. Her death brought out the humanity in Master Chief, which is great! She is a good character, but I believe if she died for a reason she should stay dead. The ending of Halo 4 would be pointless.

Got stuck on that… I hope you’re not saying what I think you’re saying.

The relationship between the Master Chief and Cortana and her subsequent death being an impact moment in the story is bad?

She’s a -Yoink!- software program. Rewrite the -Yoink- code, save the memories and bam. You’re good to go
