Reach’s Community Maps
I think I speak for everyone when I say: The community maps Bungie put into matchmaking aren’t the best. I think 343 could improve Reach by taking them off and producing more map packs. (Noble and Defiant just aren’t enough) One of the biggest flaws in Reach are its maps, they are all either forged or found in campaign. (Excluding the DLC, but they are restricted to DLC playlists) It may take time, and may come with the 7 new maps of Halo: CEA, but even if gradually, start to take off the community maps, because most of the “Recommended Maps” that get put on there, should never have been recommended.
If you decide you want to keep the community maps or add new ones, play a few games on them before posting them. See if you like them, then open them to the public and ask for feedback on them.
Yes, because most of them are better than default maps. Sure some of them aren’t that great but most of them play better than crap like Sword Base, Reflection etc.
most of them are bad. I love renegade. Its simple, no giant gaps in the middle of the map (like the cage, and a few community maps)
AND there arent a stupid amount of power weapons (trident).
Most community maps should be taken out. A few, however, are really good.
halo reach’s default maps were terrible. so to be honest i’m glad they put a couple community maps in. yes a couple are bad but not as bad as maps like reflection and powerhouse in my opinion.
I don’t dislike community maps per se, because there are many great maps out there. But those chosen by Bungie to put into matchmaking are mediocre at best, if not outright just plain horrible.
Really depends on one’s views, but I do admit some maps play better then most, however I do do not mind playing on other maps that are non-forge maps.
Really they should just bring back the community playlists to not only allow more community maps while withdrawing them a bit (not completely) from other playlists, but to see what is actually worth putting in (player votes) and what should perhaps be side-stepped. 343 could do some more with the community playlists, such as:
A small, but substantial, credit bonus for participating in the playlist. Players are taking the time to test maps that could possibly be riddled with problems and a small compensation such as credits seems fair.
Perhaps view fileshares of those who are participating quite frequently to see if there are any worthwhile maps they could add. Of course I do not know if this is possible, but if it is it could help give incentive to those who also want their maps showcased in the playlists.
