I think they have to by the time it ends. They should slowly reveal parts of his face. In halo 4 we see his eyes, in halo 5 they should show his mouth and chin. Halo 6 his whole face.
Also do you think halo will continue if he dies? Should it? I wouldn’t mind if halo 7,8,9 was about locke or other spartans.
Definitely not, a Hero doesn’t need a face to define themselves and for those who believe that showing Chief face at the end of Halo 6 is a good idea. I can guarantee you it will be an abysmal one. What is there to gain from it? “Oh look the Chiefs face, that’s cool…I guess?” But considering that 343 is full steam ahead to making the train wreck Cortana/ Chief love story I can probably guarantee you that with the last of there integrity if they have any left if there is any after Halo 5 is released they will show his face. When Chief was first created in 2001 by Bungie as the masked protagonist his faceless manner was supposed to provide a blank canvas to provoke an emotional response from the player by adding in dialogue only when absolutely necessary to add your own input into the character and paint a picture of who he is. With Halo 4 Chief did not know when to shut up acting like a 5 year old who has been told “no” for the first time. When 343 decided that they were going to personally paste on there new image onto the Masterchief I was appalled at how poorly done the character I knew for 10 years had become making me completely disregard Halo 4 for ever existing. Sorry for the additional rant that went with my opinion but that is what I think
No they should never have shown his face! His eyes are fine, and well…The comics have sculpted how he looked upon, as a child. But I always felt like I was MasterChief because they never show his face!

What love story?
Actually, Chief was first created in the Fall of Reach, before CE. There, he was given a character, personality, etc… basically everything that makes him anything but a blank slate.
Bungie’s portrayal of Chief as the player in the games was entirely false. We already knew his name was John. We knew he was white. He had blue eyes. He wasn’t the strongest or fastest or smartest Spartan.
The Chief is not the player, and never has been. Yet Bungie consistently tried to push a concept of a blank slate character, ignoring his established backstory and traits and neglecting to properly characterize him in game.
What 343i did in Halo 4 was what Bungie should have been doing since CE.
Noble Six is a silent protagonist, he is built to be the player. We don’t know his name, his skills, his personality, his past, etc.
The Rookie was a character built to be the player. We don’t know his name, his skills, his personality, his past, etc.
The Chief is not built to be the player. He has been his own established character since before CE was released.
Bungie disserviced his character in the games, creating an illusion about the Chief and shoving his story off to the side.
343i finally did him justice and treated him like a character. Actually using the source material that has been available for years as Bungie continued to ignore it. Actually representing the true Chief.

Yeah… no… 343i added character development to John. Also, a blank canvas to provide an emotional response… more like, no emotional development.
I don’t know necessarily about feeling as though I was the Chief due to never seeing his face. I always felt he was his own character, even before I read the Fall of Reach. Personally, I think that hiding his face gave his character mystery so I’m not so sure I want to see his face.

I definitely agree with this. Though I dont know if they should reveal his face as no matter how they manage to do it it will forever always be underwhelming
