Another spicy topic for you all! I’ve have been compiling data on what I think could physically even out the movement playing field a bit more. I strongly believe that bullets/projectiles should interrupt sprint & sprint/slide just as it did in Halo 5. It seems to only make sense because even though sprint/slide had a small nerf in Halo 5, you had unlimited Thrusters/Jetpacks to physically even out the movement. Halo 5 may not have had a great Campaign but I think most of agree Halo 5 MP is top and in my opinion GOATED. Im going to give my honest opinion and say that the Sprint/Sliding through bullets is more OP than thrusters/spartan charge. You can literally spam it over and over. Sure you can get hit, but the maps aren’t even that open so folks just get away around the hallway.
Should the sprint speed be buffed a bit since the jump got patched or was it buffed? Either way, you could buff the sprint speed a bit more now and I wouldn’t mind as long as I knew bullets/projectiles would slow them.
I know folks are going to bring up the Sprint/Slide “skill gap”, but I don’t have a problem WITH Sprint/Slide, I have a problem with it being spammed through bullets/projectiles with no other punishment except damage.
Halo 5 was different, you had core abilities that can benefit you if interrupted sprinting by thruster packs.
You don’t have that in Infinite. Sprinting is already slow for a sprint, and the TTK is already fast. Being canceled just makes it makes the gameplay ever faster paced, and, Halo community doesn’t want it to be too fast.
In my opinion I think that would hurt the game. Slide jumping would be nonexistent in competitive, getting to cover could not be a tactic anymore, and sliding to change you hit box would just not work. So many important strategies and tactics would not be functional anymore and would hurt the gameplay flow. Though I am glad people are starting interesting topics like this so the community can discuss it.
Bullets should not interrupt those actions that have been listed because it would totally change the flow of the game. The descope of weapons when hit with bullets makes sense and I’m okay with that.
Nah. I’d prefer no sprint/slide altogether, and think the base movement speed in Infinite is pretty much perfect for a game not to have them (though the acceleration could be slowed a bit).
But if we have to keep sprint and slide they nailed the implementation in Infinite and I feel no further iteration is needed.
