Should BTB

Just be cut down to 5v5 or 6v6?

After playing a couple of games, I think having it at 8v8 is not only a waste but a detriment as well.

Why?

I can’t remember the last BTB game I played that didn’t have quitters in it. The end result is that the game ends up playing for a significant part as as 10 man or less game, despite 16 people going in. And requiring those extra four people makes searches take longer and pulls down on connection quality.

Not a bad concept and I do agree, I’m not sure the last time I finished a BTB match with full teams on both sides.

But I honestly think 5 on 5 or even 6 on 6 are simply too small in scope for BTB. And also think, what if they started 6 on 6 and you had 3 quitters? You’re pretty much in a Team Slayer match at that point.

At least in 8 on 8 even with quitters you still have a larger match than 4 on 4. Making it smaller won’t actually prevent quitters.

No thanks. BTB is probobly one of the few playlists that do need drop in-drop out to fix this. That just sounds like Invasion and even that needed more people. The great thing about Halo is that it’s very diverse for anything. If the map is great and the game variant even a 24 player lobby would be awesome. I tend to make very large maps and while their fun with 16 players, they would be so much better with 24. Yes, Halo is considered an Arena game but it also has it’s chances to being a bigger game. One reason why people don’t like Sandtrap, Sandbox, etc. is because, yes it is big, but big for 16 players. PC games do great with this, and if betrayal was out, “drop in-drop out” was in it, and higher pop-cap it would be a much better playlist.

When I’m on Reach the highest populated playlists are:
Team Slayer
Infection
BTB

Team Objective is actually 4-5 anyway. While I do agree 6 players is the perfect number. BTB gets more players.

No 8 is fine

Quitting isn’t as prevalent as it is in Team Slayer as it is in BTB though.

Agreed but I would think that’s more due to game type. If you’re doing poorly in BTB and the other team has the vehicles on lock down, you can run out of options pretty fast and some people will quit rather quickly.

It usually doesn’t happen that way in 4 on 4.

No. Flat-out-no. 8v8 is the very essence of Big Team, there’s a clue in the name. Cutting it would be like cutting vehicles. Join-in-progress + decent anti-quitter system > decreasing player caps, which we have no idea of the effectiveness of anyway.

No, please keep it 8v8.

If Halo 4, they’re adding it the ability to join a game-in-progress. So I think 8v8 is a good idea Especially in Halo 4, because there won’t be games that are 4 on 8 and crap like that. lol =)

Join in progress is going to fix that so no.

Was that a joke? Satirical perhaps?

If 8v8 is the very essence, why does it disappear almost immediately after the game starts?

No I was being realistic here.

Join in progress will fix the problem of people quitting. I don’t see why it is so hard to grasp. Now if there is ranked playlist just keep it out.

Join In Progress isn’t going to fix it.

If anything it’s going to create a revolving door.

Soon as you’re down a teamate you’ll be down that teamate constantly as the game matches new players into your game, who see they’re getting saddled with the loosing team, and quit immediately.

The end effect is the same as it is now: Down a teamate. Only change is that you’re -Yoink!- other people off.

Cause people are unpredictable?

I have no real comment on the matter though, just looking around. And if drop in/out is in the playlist it’ll defiantly make the issue of people quitting less of an issue.

It doesn’t work in Gears 3.

I fail to see how it’ll work in H4.

I’m pulling the CoD card. Join in progress works in CoD. Are there ranked playlists? No but that is besides the post because I going off topic anyway.

The point of BTB os to have big teams. Not to have the same amount as Squad or Objective on big maps. You might as well take out the playlist if you do that.

Know what else CoD has?

The biggest population of any game so far. And a bunch of idiots who play it that could get whipped by Activision and still love it and ask for more.

I have hated Join In Progress in every game that I have every played that has had it. Why has to do with because I’m always saddled with the loosing team. Or on the loosing team just before the game ends. As such, I’m constantly quitting these games to find a half decent one.

And I’m not alone. When I do find a decent match, my opposing team quits out and I’m forced to play utterly incompetent bots, who put us so far in the lead that anyone else who joins immediately quits out too.

So you see why 343 is putting in all of these features but putting the Halo flair on it, right?

They will do anything to sell this game and make it a success whether you like it or not.
