Should Breakout be kept in future Halo titles?

I am a big fan of Breakout and would like it to be kept in Halo. I want the gamemode to stay as well as the map style, or at least the ability to build maps just like the ones in Halo 5. Breakout was an interesting new addition (like warzone), and I would like for it to stay.

Some people are probably going to disagree.

I am soon launching a YouTube channel with a Breakout theme in the hopes of building a sufficiently large following for Breakout to keep it in Halo. Maybe (hopefully) I will change some people’s minds about this gametype. Breakout is great and it needs to stay!

I don’t like breakout so I wouldn’t care if the kept it or not. it really shouldn’t even have it’s own playlist.

I have no strong feelings one way or the other on this. But I think that 343i should focus on adding new game types instead of removing the old ones.

They should remove the current breakout and add the old breakout back and keep the old one for future halos too.

For sure it needs to stay. Breakout is a very unique and intense game mode, the concepts and the maps are great, so definitely!

Sorry OP, but I have to agree with LethalQ here. I’m not really a fan of breakout and personally I think it failed hard. To me it’s just does not have that Halo feel. I have np with being able to make the game mode, map style etc. in custom games though. IMO 343I should focus on having all the popular game modes in day 1 (some aren’t still here and won’t be coming…Oddball, KOTH, an objective play in general)

Once they have all that in Halo 6 in all it’s glory, THEN should try new modes! Release one say every other 3 months or so and see what people think of it instead of gambling and hoping x game mode will get big. It seems like a logical course of action to me. This way too, if something does get big and popular, 343I can focus on that mode (as well as the other already popular ones) for the next Halo game. Case in point, SWAT, Grifball and Infection were all done like this.

If they need help in figuring out what modes are popular, have polls on the official Halo site Waypoint, Reddit, Team Beyond (other popular Halo sites) and most importantly IN GAME for people to take if they want to give 343I an idea at least of things people like. I feel like they already know and either 1) Just don’t care or 2) (and the more likely reason) they don’t feel like they are popular enough. Case in point, I think 343I underestimated the popularity of Fire Fight. I don’t understand how they did as the evidence was literally everywhere! but live and learn as they say.

I think it should stay its definitely fun to play and having new game types in halo is always welcome in my opinion.

I am indifferent on the subject of which Breakout is/was better. I like them both. As long as the general idea and the maps style stays, I will be happy.

I think that if Breakout is to stay, it requires its own playlist. It would be really annoying if it were lumped into a playlist with other modes. Imagine playing Team Arena and hoping to get CTF or something and having Breakout come up. Breakout got removed from the HCS gametype cycle, so it should also stay out of Team Arena or a playlist with other modes.

I think breakout is really fun, but I also think that there should be a setting added so where game chat is mandatory. It would make finding groups easier and it would be fun to hear your team cheer you on when you get into a 1v1, 1v2, 1v3, or 1v4 encounter.

I think you should be paired up with people using mics if you use a mic in every gamemode across the board. It makes the game more exciting. You can actually coordinate strategies with people. This is paramount in Breakout.

I have to disagree. halo hasn’t really had a competitive feel to it lately with 343. I believe breakout is a great addition to the competitiveness of Halo and offers a lot of field ideas. I would though like to see some other map arrangements for the play style. The grided maps can kinda get boring.

I think they should bring back the thing they had in Halo Reach, where you could select whether you preferred mics or no mics.

i like the old breakout with the 9+ community maps n old weapon starts, not the current one with full shields ,shotty start and radar.

Well I don’t 100% agree Halo hasn’t had any competitive feel to it ( just watch some matches between some of the pro teams in any tournament) but I don’t feel a new game mode aka breakout, that is totally different then what Halo initially was is the answer. Myself And many others would rather see a something similar to an MLG playlist back in the day aka, no radar being the main big thing.

Breakout isn’t a terrible idea don’t get me wrong, but IMO it just doesn’t feel Halo enough to warrant it being the face of competitive Halo. Image someone who has never played/watched any Halo and saw breakout. Most people would think "this is Halo? This is what people have talked about? Or "This is Halos competitive scene? Sure some would like it, but I think it’s safe to say most people would say no thanks to a game mode of 1 life. It’d be like if SWAT was the face of competitive Halo…just not right.

They are both fine as playlists, but SWAT for example has proven to be popular where as Breakout, in both forms, has not.

I think the original Breakout was leagues ahead of the Breakout refresh. The way Breakout used to be was unique, fresh, and fun. However, I guess it wasn’t as popular as 343i would have liked, which is why the changed it. The way it is now, it plays too similar to other game types; I don’t know whether it is more popular than the original Breakout. I don’t think the current Breakout should come back in future Halos. I would like the former Breakout to come back in future Halos.

I’m a fan of having more playlists, so I say yes. However they need to bring back some of the old playlists! I’m not a fan of breakout, but I know plenty of people who are. I’d much rather play king of the hill than strongholds. Heck, they brought back Assault just to take it away again… My point is, they should have playlists for all kinds of different players.

I don’t like the update all that much but I wouldn’t want to see it go.

I think yes

I find both versions of Breakout to be extremely fun. They play very differently from other modes. Maybe SMG-Pistol starts with full shields and no radar would be nice… I just want my beloved SMG back.
