Should Boss battles be brought back? Like the Tartarus fight in Halo 2. I thought a good boss battle would be against a Grunt Goblin.
I think Halo has had a spotty track record with boss fights. The Heretic from H2 might be the exception, but most of them aren’t very good imo. Halo set a precedent with the warthog run in CE. It was a new and interesting way to end a game. Rather than the run-of-the-mill boss fight, I’d rather we do vehicle runs. The broadsword run in H4 was actually pretty fun. I believe there was even a banshee run planned for H2 (might have been a warthog run, but I can’t remember exactly).
I’m not a huge fan of those types of boss battles (Tartarus and Warden) in a game like Halo. Just feels so out of place to me.
Boss battles are something Halo has never been particularly good at so there could be room for improvement.
Flood has a boss potential for it’s ability to create rather imposing figures out of corpses in quite a sizeable manner if given a chance.
Maybe not exactly a boss but maybe some bigger space battle could be part of some Halo game, not Infinite particularly but perhaps at some point in some spin-off title we could commandeer a spaceship or simply even pilot some of the smaller ones.
As for the mechanical ground battles, mostly works best with scarab like minibosses.
As for creatures/mechs, hopefully not, have’nt worked so far, it’s like there would be some form of curse over Halo where every bipedal bossfight turns out as bottom of the bin material in terms of gameplay.
It all comes down to how it is handled.
The Scarabs in Halo 3 were great boss battles.
And every Chieftain and Hunter is like a mini-boss.
Tartarus was interesting, though it had a lot of waiting for Sgt Johnson to shoot to drop his invincibility so you could hit him.
The Warden Fights were individually interesting, but I wouldn’t have had so many fights against him in one campaign.
The Didact’s showdown was a real disappointment. We never got to fight him, just hit a couple of completely out of place quick time events, then he drops into a portal.
The Flood Juggernauts were an interesting concept that could be fun to face in the future, since now the mobility and combat options of the player are much more expanded than they were in Halo 2, so the Juggernauts could use much more tactics because the player-characters have the tools to respond to more dangerous enemies.
i would like to have some bossfights or maybe even “unique” variants of an enemy it dosent need to be a hard fight but would be awsome to maybe lets say something like the field marshall from reach wich kinda is a boss in some ways
It would be nice if handled well unlike H5s warden and hunters that just stopped the gameplay to a crawl the flood idea by MIKA95VARTSU would be interesting or a forunerunner promethian unit that would change shapes or utility to combat your play style. As long as it doesn’t slow gameplay to a crawl with a meaningless bullet sponge
Yes.

I didn’t really like the Halo 5 boss battles but sure, just different bosses would be nice. Do not want to see the same Warden Eternal every 5 missions.
I loved the mini-bosses like the hunters, scarabs, or more high level enemies that you have to kill before a checkpoint or something like that but I think actual boss fights like to end a level or the final boss of the campaign shouldn’t be brought back. I liked the vehicle runs much more.
