Should "Basic Training" return in matchmaking

I wouldn’t mind a basic training playlist. It would give new players a place to go and build their skills before hopping into real matchmaking.

It would be great to give the “new players” ;D somewhere to go outside of the normal MM so that they learn how to play, especially since it seems many new people will be coming in. It would also be great with the whole custom loadouts thing so you’re not matched up with guys who have like everything.

Id like to see it return and maybe make it optional for up to 15, 20 games if youve been absent from the game for 4 or 5 months. So you dont get destroyed your first few games back.

Oh yes, basic training is a must. To help players get acquainted with the ins and outs of Halo 4’s MP features. Features that i might add, are relativity new and depending on who you ask, total garbage/2nd coming of Raptor Jesus.

-Yoink- yes!! I suggested this a few months ago. It’ll help new players get better aquanted with the game.

Yes, yes, and yes, and by the way you read my mind I thought about this today at work.

They didnt have it in reach, they left a lot of things out of reach. But I would like to see it resurface in Halo 4 a long with a few other things. Like rank. Just saying.

Sure, although it should be a choice. I don’t want to get shoehorned in with n00bs when I’m actually pretty good.

I played halo 3 and barely remember basic training but i guess its a good idea and couldn’t hurt anyone…

yes yes yes, I only started really playing mm when H3 came out and it helped me loads

I think it would be cool if they reconfigured it slightly so that it can still teach new players how to play the game, but also allow more experienced players to enter to test something new they unlocked without having to risk their stats.

Obviously trueskill should be tighter in this playlist as well.

I don’t really need it but i guess it would be good for new people.

They should have a basic training that uses bots, and make the bots so that you can adjust the difficulty. You can have setting like, beginner, normal, competitive, and MLG Pro. That way even those without xbox live can get pretty good at the multiplayer.

I don’t see too many negatives with basic ropes returning

You don’t get better at the game by playing against bad players in Basic Training, all it allowed players to do was make second accounts and get an amazing KD and five free wins when they start.

If people want to learn, they can hop into ranked with other low levels and learn from that.

It should make a return I guess. Although if the game rates you according to skill efficiently then you should never get raped or rape.

It will be nice to see it back, but with changes:

  1. Only for lewer levels.
  2. More maps and basi gametypes (Slayer, Oddball, Regicide).
  3. People who enter to “kill noobz” are forbidden. 343i should make, like, something that tells you that people who have played more than 10 MM matches and they enter this playlist are forbidden.
  4. Only for starters.

This game will (like every other Halo before it) have a campaign. THIS is what everyone should play first off. Then (as a maximum) give (like in H3) 5, and only these 5 matches to play basic training in. After that: never again. So there won´t be some “Noob-Pwners”. If someone wants to get into matchmaking again after, say 5 months, then play a session of the campaign again. If that still doesn´t help, play another one and hopp into matchmaking again ^^
But I think a max of 5 games should be ok…

Combat/basic training any one ?

I’m going to try to summarize the opinions in this thread into a coherent list of playlist settings, along with a few little personal additions. So essentially this is what everyone would like:

“Basic Training”

  • Optional but strongly recommended

  • Drop in/drop out

  • No stat changes and no medal gains
    o Prevents farming

  • All vanilla gametypes
o Loading screen includes short explanation of each gametype along with tips and tricks to being successful
o Ensures full basic gametype experience for new players

  • Most, if not all, of the sandbox available
o Ensures full weapon experience for new players

  • TrueSkill integrated
o Ensures noobs play noobs and veterans (who play for a refresher or as a loadout testing ground) are also playing veterans

I think a playlist like this would be fantastic way to provide new players a less hostile environment in which to become better associated with the game and it’s mechanics. I really don’t see a downside, especially if it’s kept optional. Let me know what you guys think or if you have any additional ideas.
