One thing I think halo 4 got right was the scoreboard system in terms of assists, they actually helped your position on the scoreboard. With halo 5 being more based on kills rather than points on the scoreboard, I fear it may go back to the lack of recognition for good team players.
While playing BTB on reach, I was using the falcon to assist one of my teammates. I find it very fun to pilot the falcon and assist my team, however I do not like the lack of recognition a good driver gets for greatly helping their team.
I think that assists should help determine your scoreboard position in halo 5, especially in BTB. What do you guys feel about this?
Yeah. Halo has always been a team game, and recognition should be given to those who are good team players.
Also, I thought Halo 5 gave more recognition to assists than other games, with the whole KDA system.
Well its should only matter when theres 2 players at the same place, for example P1 has 20 Kills and 2 assists and P2 has 20 Kills and 4 assists then P2 should be ranked higher.
Yes assist can be very helpful but are given for assisting in a kill not actually killing someone.
Rather there can be like a showcase in the Carnage report player with most assists
Yes, I totally agree.
I also remember times from Reach when I was driving a Warthog or Falcon for most of the time getting a lot of kills for the gunner and the team but the scoreboard only showed the little amount of kills forgetting about all the assists. Of course it recorded the assists too and they could be viewed after the match, but I doubt most of the people cared watching that.
In this manner I feel Halo 4 did an improvement.
I think the perfect solution would be to indicate the number of assists next to the kills and deaths all the time (during gameplay as well as after the match). And maybe having a system like this: Kill = +1, Assist = +0,5 and Death = -1. In this case a player with 3/12/5* would be better than one with a 4/3/5* stat and therefore should be placed higher on the team’s scoreboard.

I certainly liked that system in H4 as well. I am a driver, and in the other games it looked like you were pathetic and not contributing, but in H4 you could actually accumulate points and look respectable on the scoreboard. Kudos to 343i for showing assists are worth points.
