Should assassinations stay or go in Halo 5?

I saw this question asked on facebook and nobody answered in favor of assassinations. This got me to thinking, What is so bad about assassinations. I thought if anything people could agree that assassinations were a pretty neat idea. It might not be the most original idea, and yes other shooters do it too. But I have never seen it done as sweet and awesome as Halo. What are you guys thoughts on this feature introduced by Bungie in 2010?

Keep them. Improve them.

It’s a completely optional feature and it’s a great way to be a cheeky -Yoink- in MP (:

It doesn’t harm mechanics and people that die from doing it can only blame themselves for taking the chance to look cool instead of back smacking.

But yes, I support the option to have them disabled in the options. Accidents do happen.

I see no point in removing them, they are actually quite fun when you intend to do one, i just wish they would add an option to disable them because it is quite annoying when you assassinate someone when you meant to just simply melee them in the back.

They should stay, but there needs to be a option to disable them.

Keep them only thing needed is an option to toggle being able to preform them.

Keep em. I always go for the beat down but sometimes you just gotta assassinate. It’s sucks when you do it accidentally and it gets you killed though. Definitely add the ability to disable. That’s a no brainer.

It really doesn’t matter to me if Assassinations are kept or not, but there’s no reason to get rid of them. I don’t think they make much of a difference.

I agree with everyone here. Keep them, but give the option to disable them.

This feature is already toggle-able, its called tapping RB/B instead of holding it. Pointless to make an opt in feature toggle-able.

I want the Yoink! medal to return. Seriously. Maybe to deter it you have to assassinate the already being assassinated victim and get entered into a fairly long animation. As a penalty for stealing a kill, you get stuck in an (awesome looking) animation. Plus, the starter still gets the kill and assassination, you just get an extra little medal, too.

I’d like them to be first-person and faster.

Yes they should return but making them a menu option is a bad idea and there’s a better way to do it.

If one button was melee and one button was assassinations that’d be much better.

I say this because if it were an option despite the fact that I love assassinations I’d turn them off because I would be in a straight up disadvantage if I don’t. It’d ruin them for me and anyone else who plays Halo in a similar way to how I do.

It’d effectively be the opposite of optional Sprint in the menus. I hate Sprint but I’d turn it on because I’d be at a disadvantage if I didn’t.

But if I were to have the choice to assassinate or beat down someone on a moment by moment basis and weigh that decision based on the specific situation then it’ll solve the problem. I’ll see someone and at that moment and I can make the choice of how to bring them down. If I think it’s safe and I want to show then I’ll go for the assassination. If it’ll be too dangerous then I’ll go for the beat down.

By putting it in the menu you’re asking me to make a prediction of what the next scenario will be. I could turn assassinations on and hope that the next scenario is ideal in order for me to do it safely but there’s a chance that it wont be safe and I’ll die because I turned them on. I could go with the safer option and turn them off but then I could end up walking into a bunch of situations where I could have shown off but I couldn’t because they were turned off. Having to go through that all the time would suck and making it a button difference would work in a way that doesn’t cause this.

Keep 'em.

The entertainment value alone is worth it in my eyes.

Plus, I find them a little rewarding. A back smack is fine and all, but an assassination always brings a smile to my face.

I didn’t even realize this was an argument. I thought, of all the things introduced in Halo: Reach, assassinations were probably the most widely-accepted. Of course, I want them in the next installment.

Assassinations are cool, satisfying, and optional. Keep them.

Definitely need to stay, and they should make some weapon-specific assassinations.

The gravity hammer would be a great place to start with this…

Also, I want to put my foot on someone’s chest and pump a shell right into their face. That would be satisfying >:D

I was thinking the same thing. Like pushing over and them landing on there back then sending the staff of the gravity hammer right through there face. Also I thought if a few more.

Needler: you start off by pulling a needle from your fun and getting behind them and stabing it right into there chest and kicking them away as it explodes in them.

Shotgun: (like from transformers) you grab them on the shoulder and you push the shotgun into the back and fire, instantly killing them.

Pistol 1st: you push the player down on the stomach and then put a bullet in the back of there head.

Pistol 2nd: you disable the person turn them around to face you and shoot them point blank intnr face.

Grenade: grabbing a plasma grenade and stick it right In there face then power kicking them away from you to avoid the blast ( it would have no team effect so no accedental betrayals, but it would be kind of cool to get a double kill by kicking him into a team mate.)

Just some ideas, thoughts??

I think they are a great optional feature thats just flashy and in your face. This was the one thing introduced in reach that i straight up loved. I see no reason why to remove them.
