Title for reference. Do you think that Assassinations should return in Halo 5/Halo Xbox One?
Personally I have no problem with them returning, and don’t see why anyone else should. The assassinations, first introduced in Halo: Reach as an inventive way of tea-bagging players, are quite creative and always interesting to pull off. They add colour to what would ordinarily just be a hit to the back. They’re also definitely one of the better game mechanics introduced in Halo: Reach.
Sure you can argue that they’re gimmicky or that they slow down gameplay, but pulling them off isn’t necessary at all. As I said they were created solely to increase realism, improve the aesthetic dynamic of typical Halo combat, and (as I’ve said) to taunt enemies after killing them. I think they’re quite satisfying and should become a staple aspect of Halo combat.

Of course. However much I dislike implementation of casual aspects into Halo, assassinations I can deal with 'cause they’re pure fun and don’t ruin gameplay.
Yes they should return for those who enjoy using them to add insult to injury, but they need to give the option to toggle them on and off because nothings more frustrating then assassinating someone by accident and then getting killed because of it.
I think assassinations are cool, but there needs to be an option in the pause menu. Due to network conditions, some people wind up doing the animation instead of a backsmack and get killed from it.

Simply tapping RB for a beatdown over holding it down for an assassination is a good enough way to separate them, but I do think that you should have to hold RB down longer for an assassination.
No I really don’t like how the back wack became a beat down that was very stupid; if it returns there needs to be an on/off switch. I’ve died many times by doing an assassaination instead of doing the back wack.

Fair enough. But keep in mind that the update 360 controller will likely make it much easier to do one or the other as opposed to getting unwanted assassinations. Of course this option would be nice but I’d rather have 343 do other things before they get to it. They have a lot of other things.

I wouldn’t imagine a “Assassinations: On / Off” would be too difficult.
And even if the new controller makes it easier not to slip up, the chance is still there and the option would still be nice.
I think they should be a controlled choice so that if you fear the animation getting you killed or giving up a yoink you could just do a standard beat down instead. Maybe tap the button for melees and hold it for assassinations?
i think either way it is going to return, its a rewarding feeling when you get an assasination, and humiliate the guy on the other end!!
but yeah no im happy for them to return!!
Of Course. Hopefully we have so new assassinations like a weapon specific assassination, like Magnum, knock the player down and shoot him in the head or a Gravity Hammer Assassination (which i think will catch everyone’s attention).

If they bring back the smg, i would want this particular move to be an assassination. Click

Um, they’re somewhat cool, but unnecessary if you ask me. I prefer to just go for the quick kill if I’m behind someone.
The only reason I’d want to see them removed is that in Reach and Halo 4 regardless if I’m tapping the melee button, not holding it, my spartan will still go in for an assassination which ends up getting me killed.
This happened in Reach on occasion, but it seems to happen on Halo 4 all the time, and no, it’s not my controller.
