Hiya! I wanna ask the Halo community,do YOU think there should be a Bot system placed in the custom and/or Matchmaking systems? Games such as Call of Duty and Gears of War have implemented a bot system into private and custom games so players will have something to shoot should they choose to play by themselves-Gears took this a step further by replacing players who quit with a bot. It also attracts people to the multi-player part of gaming and also gives Silver accounts the experience of playing online without needing to.
Here are just a few examples of why I think bots could be implemented for benefit of the players:
-Perfect for testing out forge maps
-Attracts people to the multiplayer/Gives Silver XBL players the chance to experience what Multiplayer is like.
Also as one of the posters have said:
> I love the Idea, but only for Practice, or Offline, but the way to go is in Forge, and Customs. That’s something we need, if they can code the AI to handle forged maps and still have the AI be “smart”.
This post got me thinking. If we could develop a way to make AI “Smart” to a player level,it would suit. For example in Gears 3-I have seen bots performing wall bounces and outplaying people in online Matchmaking. If Bots could be programmed to mimic players online, who knows what they could be capable of?
Or even a better example than that. The Star Wars Battlefront series, released waaay before GoW came out. I remember playing this game constantly on my PSP and PS2 and even though the bots seemed dumbed down, they were excellent examples. In CTF gametypes I vaguely remember a squad of 3-4 bots guarding the player/bot with the flag, just like in most CTF gametypes of the day.
This also brought up another point,if a teammate quits and a bot replaces him, should they function like a player and be able to communicate like one, with them replying scripted lines? Look at Tom Clancy’s: Endwar. You spend the entire campaign using your Mic to order troops around. This could be used to benefit teamplay online.
Also creating an AI path script. For Forge maps/gametypes such as Speed Halo or Indiana jones, you could perhaps place a forgeable path for the bots to follow, but it seems too complicated. I’m not leaving the idea out though.
I want to know what you think. Should Halo 4 have these Bots implemented or should it stay clear of them? I would also like to hear ideas, and criticisms, but only for a good reason.
Thanks for reading and leave a post to help this idea get noticed!
