Should 343i Take micro transactions out of Halo 5

I don’t think we should even be having this discussion but obviously we need to. MICRO TRANSACTION DO NOT NEED TO BE IN HALO IN ANY FORM EVER! This may seems harsh but I don’t care if you may not have the time to play the game you already paid for the game you should 1 already have the content unlocked or 2. earn it like everyone else. This is not a healthy practice in the way they described the system working.

It’s warzone only, and in arena, cosmetic only. Does not detract from halo. Besides, it gives an incentive to make more amazing stuff, which is all unlockable in the normal course of play.

Unless you want to pay for Map Packs instead, i say the transaction stay, they are purely optional. Maps are not

They are not even in yet.
I am fine with them as long as they dont affect gameplay.

They should not cut out content just to sell it as DLC like cough Desti… cough But if they bring new armor, skins and stuff (Halo 4 champion DLC) I am completly fine with them to keep it fresh.

No because free DLC goes bye-bye if mircotransations get removed. Can you imaging a current FPS that has all the DLC content available for absolutely everyone so no one gets left behind.

GTA 5 but thats hard to compare since its one of the best selled games ever.
(you can play GTA in first person :P)

No, it’s microtransactions that are just there and not needed to win or you pay $10 for three new maps

Let’s be clear this is how paid DLC works vs microtransactions
OLD PAID DLC WAY

  1. Buy game without getting DLC and only play the launch maps
  2. Buy game with getting DLC but can’t play them very much since no one else has the maps
    NEW microtransactions way
  3. Buy game and get DLC for nothing
  4. Buy game and buy req packs and you still had DLC anyway

The bottom line is you can get everything for just the cost of the game, on top of preventing a fracture in the online experience in which one group of people only have the game and another has the DLC and the game.

How can these threads keep popping up when the micro-transaction system is explained in a sticky post literally here: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/6e35355aecdf4fd0acdaee3cc4156fd4/topics/req-system-and-microtransactions-explained/d57caf80-9288-4915-bdb5-dd7dd1abab0c/posts

I’m not high enough rank in the forums to post hyper links, but still I personally would rather have micro-transactions that affect gameplay in a single gametype while adding the ability to buy cosmetic items. This model is literally the best of both worlds for gamers. Take a look at the most recent iterations of Call of Duty. They charge you 20 usd for a map pack that contains 3 maps a horde mode map and maybe a gun or two while still charging you for dress up. Is this okay? Is this how you want Halos system to work? If it is then I want no part in it.

The current system is more than enough to keep me happy.

So wait, if we keep the microtransactions on, do we get the Map packs for free?

Yes, free maps and no fracturing of the community. The way micro-transactions work also has no effect on how competitive halo functions, plus it gives not so talented people the ability to use cool armor and weapon skins. The only gameplay effecting it does is in Warzone, a game type built to just be a fun romp for new people and an interesting experience for veteran players.

I think it’s fine the way it is.

Free DLC maps and I don’t have to spend any more money on the game because I’m confident enough that I’ll get most of what I want, provided there’s incentive enough to play the game for a longer period of time.

Don’t worry about the microtransactions. They only cause cosmetic differences, and the gameplay is only affected in Warzone. Basically, it like there aren’t any microtransactions for Arena, so yeah.

Yes, I would rather pay for maps, then have micro transactions that have zero effect on the game
Edit: because you can get all of them in game just by ranking up

I would quote but sometimes the quote button won’t work for me.

Anyway, great news! I don’t care that much for multy, hence I don’t give a damn about microtransactions, and we get maps for free? Awesome! Let’s keep the microtransactions in!

Change the title to: do you want to pay for maps. It’s essentially the same thing! They have micro transaction in ONE social playlist and it allows them to give us all map packs for free. How can you even get mad at that?
Some seem to forget that yes it’s a video but it’s a business and they need to make money. We get all our maps for free, because impatient candy crush and clash of clan players are used to paying t o get this now. Don’t like it don’t play warzone or wait for warzone plus lol with earned cards only or somehing.

Interesting to see such a large percentage to one side. I thought that it would be the other way around. I for one don’t think 343 HAS to remove them, so long as they are well implemented.

Alright, let’s stop for a minute. Do you understand why 343i has introduced micro transactions?

For starters, let’s take a look at map packs. Everyone loves them right? They’re something we’ve had since Halo 2 and something we enjoy. However, take a browse through the various Halo forums and you’ll see a pattern whenever DLC is discussed. Issues with splitting the community, people not being able to play maps due to low population count, people not being able to get achievements because they’re locked behind a paywall or the playlists in question have been removed.

Map packs were great, but not enough people bought them and they were never getting played. It was a waste of money.

343i’s solution to that is by not locking those maps behind a paywall. So they introduce micro transactions, an optional way for the community to obtain more skins, and in doing so funding not only 343i, but tournaments they may choose to host as well. It’s solving the issue of needless community devision and working to fund tournaments that may grow and improve the community as a whole.

I don’t agree with 343i in most cases, but this is easily the best way to handle DLC.

Now, at the same time I understand there’s a whole stigma involved with micro transactions because “it’s for crappy iPhone games!!!” or whatever, but this is more beneficial to the community than it is harmful, even if you disagree with the idea of paying to unlock skins.

PEOPLE STOP -Yoinking!- COMPLAINING ABOUT SMALL THINGS THAT DONT EFFECT THE GAME AT ALL!!! you want 343 to not have any -Yoinking!- prize money for the H2A championship NOT TO MENTION THERE -Yoinking!- OPTIONAL!!!

No. I’m fine with the way they are implemented
