Should 343I Hire Marty O' Donnell for Halo 5:G

Do you guys think 343 Industries should hire Marty O’ Donnell?

I think they should… what do you guys think?

yes, but i wonder if its too late, or if marty would even be interested creatively.

it’d be unfair to the people they’d already hired on for the role.

Yeah they should if hes interested, his work in destiny far outpaced the actual game in most instances in fact the music alone made the game feel great for awhile imo.
But rehiring marty might require kicking the new guy (forgot his name) out on the curb and i liked his work as well.

I think 343 Industries should hire Marty Halo knows well, it would be good for the music of the Reclaimer saga. If he comes back the fans will be more than happy !

Marty knocked it out of the park (again) with Destiny. I’d love for him to return to Halo.

Nothing against the Halo 4 music people (are they signed up again for 5?) but I truly feel that Marty understands the fabric of a Halo experience so much better than they do. I understand 4 tried a tonal shift to differentiate itself from past titles, but it simply didn’t work for me.

Since they already have a composer for halo 5, I think hiring him for a few tracks for halo 5 and them having him take over for the rest of the games would be a perfect idea.

Life isn’t fair, I say bring him aboard if he’s willing to ride!!

Yes! They should absolutely hire Marty. He can work with the new composers. He is, as I am sure most will agree, the real father of the Halo franchise. The excellent physics and combat that set Halo:CE apart from its competition in the beginning was meliorated by the exceptional and heartwarming soundtrack. Marty’s music instilled a sense of intrigue and passion in a universe we wanted to explore further. It made you feel the desperation and wonder of the human spirit in the most trying of times. Marty O’Donnell and Halo are synonymous in my mind. If 343 officials are reading this, please consider hiring Marty. He was there at the Chief’s beginning and he should be there at his end.
Thanks.

They should have him redo Never Forget for the end of the game. It’d be the best ending ever. Ever. EVER.

Absolutely. His music in halo Ce-3 were masterpieces. It would bring somewhat of the halo feel back to halo 5. I loved Marty being a part of the team.

They could always hire him as a consultant.

If he wanted to do it, he most likely would’ve done it when bungie let him go. But he didn’t and 343 already has Kazuma Jinnouchi working on it. Let 343 be their own thing and not a studio copy of bungie.

Marty said he was tired of Halo iirc

No, because I think Neil Davidge did a great job with Halo 4, and while I do love classic Halo music, I’ve liked what I’ve heard so far. I can still replay the menu music in my head from Halo 5 even though I haven’t played it in weeks now. It was memorable enough I guess.

Marty shouldn’t return because others have done a fine job in taking the torch.

You really think the destiny music is that good? I only found a few tracks I liked listening to really.

Three problems:

  • He said he didn’t want to do game music any more.- Kazuma is already head composer, and Marty wouldn’t settle for anything less than that. - Some of Kazuma’s stuff has been absolutely amazing so far. 117, a few climaxes from the vidocs, and the second title screen track from the beta spring to mind. (Not the trumpet one, the one that comes after it.)

I’m not sure, Kazuma Jinnouchi did the music. They’re pretty close towards the the last months of beginning of putting some unchangeable things into place. IT would be awesome if Marty does return and does a co-composition with Kazuma.

What i like about Kazuma’s style is that it fits the characters: 117, lasky theme. Marty’s music is bigger. It fits the halo installations and huge battles. Marty’s music is “epic”. Kazuma’s is dramatic. All in one i prefeur kazuma’s music.

I’ve thought about this before, and my answer is a resounding “Hell yeah!” Although I don’t know what more would be left for him to do, or if he would even be interested in Halo.
