Anyone else think the 343I community managers should give us a weekly update on what they are doing? Destiny 2 has posts on what they did and what they have planned every week called This Week at Bungie. Granted Halo isn’t an MMO like Destiny, it would still be nice to get more constant updates. Plus it would get the Halo community managers more involved with thier community because it seems they only post when issues arise. If I was a community manager I would AT LEAST be doing that.
if there have done that last year more then it was a good idea to do for then.
but to do something like this now is more pointless to do.
since a lot off players lost there hope all with halo infinite and also in 343.
you most also know that there is a big trust problem 343 has in the communety and doing this things is not going to fix then at all.
and we have ask then all a year ago in a other thread that there need to be more involved on the forums since there have been a lot off hot topic’s there can explane then and not have done at all.
Never pointless to update people about things they are working on each week. Even if its only a paragraph long. As long as they are interacting with thier community, no matter how small or big, then thats all the fans could ask for. Not engaging or talking about Halo with the fans means less publicity about the game which equals more people forgetting about Halo.
Would be good to know what those “quality of life improvements” in upcoming season will actually be, and when will they land, if ever - remember when they promised to make Commando more controllable? Yeah, we’re just month away from S3 and the commando is still basically uncontrollable on a controller.
When I read that Season 3 will bring this and that, my assumption is that all those things will land on day 1, not stretched in time, or even maybe never actually make it.
Like honestly, one month before S3 we basically don’t know anything about what it’ll bring/fix other than new maps and armor cores/cosmetics, which are the game’s least issues, I have a feeling people will come back (if they will want to give the game N-th try anymore that is), only to instantly discover it’s still basically a beta like it was on launch.
“Further Forge improvements” - like what? “QoL improvements” - which ones? And when? What 343 needs is transparency first and foremost, enough is enougy with selling empty promises.
do you not have read all the hate threads when there scrap the split screen Co-Op for no reason by not telling us why there have done that.
same with the multiplayer by not telling there cant fix most off the problem?
the scrap campaign expensions is also a other one?
and this is maybe new for you but the halo serie’s has the worst of the worst reputation there is in the gaming world at all.
same with the trust in the developing company has only become worse then it all was.
when halo 4 and halo 5 have been release the reputation from 343 was also not that good by some people.
same with the worst launch of MCC was the reputation not going the good way first.
but halo infinite launch has make it so worse that it looks like halo 4,halo 5 and MCC have done much better with the reputation it got.
the point i make with this is more that the trust level in the communety is so low and so worse that things like this is not going to help at all.
people do not trust the developers any more why you think the multiplayer has make a big crash last year with the population.
and that now also the campaign players do not trust then any more.
you know also good if you have follow the news about halo infinite for a long time that there have make some promises to the communety what the game gets.
and 2 off then have been destroyt all by then so the communety is not happy about it.
and this is now something what there need to have done from the start by telling the truth about things all is it bad or worse all is it a promises there cant keep.
if there told the truth about it what the reason was and why it was not working people belive that more then telling false things or not and finding it out on there own later what the real reason was.
Yeah 343 should definitely give us regular updates on whats going on and planned. I think they did this with MCC until all games were on PC, that was great
Unfortunately we’re now on a downward spiral: any comms effort will be drowned out by the more toxic elements of the community. That then drags community team effort away from other things to manage.
I really appreciate and agree with this idea ![]()
I know you have already stated so, but how would you recommend that 343 or it’s Community Managers do this exactly?
That being:
- Which platform?
- What subjects / topics? (examples)
- Any other ideas or adaptations to the Weekly Updates*
I feel that in order for there to be a consistency, there needs to be some form of variety
Just say that there is nothing ‘new’ being worked on - which I feel wouldn’t be the case - you could supplement a section of the Multiplayer team (map building, sandbox forge etc) and provide insights/interviews of those team members
I asked those questions before as I would love to hear what comes to mind for you, as you’re the one that came up with this idea; my ideas are only a secondary
I feel like ideas like this are very important, in order to bridge that gap between 343 & it’s community, as it is never too late to forgive. Forgiveness is earned through action, not empty words
Great idea homie, thanks for sharing ![]()
first of all do you know how big the gap is between 343 and the communety.
its more like the size of the grand canyon what the gap has become more.
and this is something the OP and some others on this thread also have forgot.
and that are the layoff’s that have been hit by 343 a lot off people have been layoff or move to a other company.
and since there was all a staff problem there things only have become more and more worse.
there is all a question if there can develoop a new halo game at all or maintain it with the less staff there got.
It is as big as you like it to be homie
You can choose whether or not you want to try and bridge that gap or not, your choice
You do not owe anyone anything, let alone 343 or Halo Infinite
It’s your choice whether or not you limit yourself to making progress, doesn’t mean that we should all limit ourselves to your standards; sincerely
I am more than aware of the gap that exists - and how big it is - I am simply doing my best to help bridge it
We don’t have to agree, but don’t tell me what to think and I won’t tell you what to think; we are all entitled to our own opinions and beliefs
Also check your DM’s on Xbox @TotalTeeto117 as I can’t DM on Waypoint and you never actually contribute or post in these threads; I only ever see you react with “missed the point”, even when there’s no point to be missed lmao
All the community managers have to do is call a weekly meeting with the team leaders of each area, and ask them what they have been working on or have planned. Doesnt even have to be each area. Can be one area a week. As long as there is formal communication between the devs and players, thats all we ask for. Now is the best time to give communication to the players because there is massive uncertainty. Them hiding and not putting out any communication besides one sentence about nothing, is only going to make bad rumors worse. If youre not familiar with Destiny 2 “This Week at Bungie” I would suggest you look at those. Bungie is the best in the industry when it comes to communication with thier fanbase.
first of all you can better ignore then that give you that type off medals on your command since its pointless to do something against then its in the first place 343 fault to add some type system on the forum that some people can abuse.
now back to your comment.
i know you wane help to bridge it and i know a other thread what has suggest the samething last year all.
look on this thread: https://forums.halowaypoint.com/t/community-update/506172
since last year there have stop doing that all and we have ask all why there have stop doing it.
so the idea to bring back the weekly update’s has been ask all and there have never done it at all any more.
it can also be there have stop doing it since the feedback and replay’s on the weekly update’s was not nice and was more complains.
edit: if the reason there have stop doing that since there was only complaings from things there not add in there update like crossplay or the problems the game has still and hear notting about.
that there not make a developer tracker section there post the update’s on it you cant replay back on it since thats what some other forums have done make a section for that you cant post on by the other players and replay on threads that have been post on that section.
Had a hard time reading what you just wrote so forgive me if I miss something, but just because the community managers get backlash dosen’t mean that they should just stop communicating. Its literally thier jobs. Any community manager should know that the job comes with negativity. They just need to ignore the hate and keep informing the players about whats to come, whether good or bad. They just need to be honest.
on the part that there will always get negativity is basic normal more.
the only diffrend is the level off negativity you get since it has also to do with the game it self more.
if the game is in a good state there will be less negativity and if the game is in the worst state then you ask for it more that you only get a lot of negativity.
and what can help also a lot is that there explane things when some topic’s become hot that there almost burst open and things go out off controle then.
take the crossplay and KBM Vs Controler discusions or the scrap Split screen Co-Op topic’s some have burst open good last year and it was also going out off controle fast the wrong way.
A lot of backslash happened because they weren’t being honest and upfront with us. They were hiding everything and keeping everything secret until last minute. If they were honest with us before hand, then there wouldn’t have been as much backlash.
and thats why the comminecation between 343 and the communety has a gap like the grand canyon more.
since there do things like that and ask for it to happing.
and thats why there is now a big trust problem between 343 and the communety and people.
same with the reputation what the halo serie’s now has thanks to things like that.
so doing the weekly update again is not going to help at all if there do things like that.
It definitely WILL help. There may be backlash at first but once they get a rythm going, it’ll be better for everyone. They just need to learn how to do it right and consistant.
First to acknowledge @Spikanor I appreciate and agree with what you say, I also have seen a reaction you made in The Library regarding the same thing
I do understand that there are things you can’t change and even acknowledging will make it worse, but I will call it for what it is:
Projecting their own insecurity upon other people, attempting to fill a void within themselves; they project their hatred and resentment on the world and others, so they don’t have to look at the resentment and hatred they feel toward themselves
& on that note lets just say I hit a soft spot ![]()
It sincerely bothers me that there are no repercussions for abusing these reactions (referring to that thread in The Library), but like you said it is what it is and the best course of action is to ignore it
Thank you, I appreciate it @Spikanor
I find it interesting as creating this thread has already gotten to the deeper cause of why it’s needed
The bridge between 343 and the community
I will acknowledge and say that I see exactly where you’re coming from @Spikanor, and I do agree with you. But like @TAC_hakr said, just because there was negative feedback, doesn’t mean it needs to be pulled back; running away doesn’t always resolve the problem, it can even make it worse like we have all brought forward
There needs to be sincere and hard work done to improve the relationship between 343 and it’s community, it is only a matter of how
With the recent letting go of developers (due to Microsoft’s cutbacks) and most recent announcement, I feel that it’s fair to say that there will - or at least should - be a proper acknowledgment made by 343; their community managers
@Spikanor do you feel that there is anyway to redo these weekly updates?
@TAC_hakr I also agree that Bungie are great with their PR, Halo 3 for me is a great example. Do you feel that there are other aspects 343 can work to better their PR, in hand with posting these weekly updates?
They can start with doing better at communicating with thier player base first. Once they do that consistently, then they can look to see what other issues there are, but communication is key and should come first.
And I’m not bashing 343s community managers. Unyshek and Sketch do a decent job, but more can be done for the sake of Halo.
