Should 343 turn Friendly Fire back on in Social modes?

Personally, I feel that no friendly fire makes explosives too powerful because there’s no longer risk of hurting your allies, and it in general undermines a good bit of what Halo is. As someone who can’t play competitive because I have hearing problems and need the radar as an accessibility feature, l don’t like this at all. What does everyone else think?

  • Yes: Friendly Fire should be turned on for all weapons, in all modes.
  • Yes: Friendly Fire should be turned on, but for explosives only in social modes.
  • No: Friendly Fire should stay turned off in social modes.

I was playing ranked earlier and accidentally killed a friendly with a nade because I forgot FF was a thing.

For the record, I’m all for FF being off in social. It’s a small price to pay to not have to deal with griefers, especially since Infinite is free to play and they can make new accounts at will if they get banned.

I use social to train for ranked so yes turn friendly fire on!

I’m a highly competitive player, but I feel like social is actually better for not having friendly fire.

Prior to playing I didn’t like the idea, but Big Team Battle is significantly better for it. Maybe turn it on for quickplay but I’d say never, ever do I want to see it in 12 Vs 12 BTB ha.

I wouldn’t mind it. I once accidentally killed 7 of my teammates with a single grenade in an assault match on Zanzibar in Halo 2 :joy::joy::joy:

I miss friendly fire :pensive:

Yeah. I don’t even understand why this is up for debate. The nade spam is absolutely atrocious.

Remember that Infinite being free to play will attract a lot of new players, many of whom will be young kids who will definitely get upset when you get to the gravity hammer first.

I’d rather not be betrayed by some kid who wants my weapon or just thinks it’s funny to ruin everybody else’s time.

Thank you! So many people don’t seem to acknowledge it; I really hope @343 takes into account how annoying grenades are with friendly fire off. If they want to leave it off, I think they at least need to make you have only one grenade in social.

And see, I get that. Which is why if it was just friendly fire being off and everything else was balanced around that, it’d be fine. But that isn’t the case; grenades are as available and powerful as ever, and so are explosive weapons like the cindershot and rocket, which are made much stronger by the lack of FF.

So, if they wanted to turn of friendly fire in social, they needed to think about the consequences; players should start with only one grenade to reduce spamming, and explosive weapons should spawn less often or perhaps have less ammo, so they don’t become irritating to deal with all the time.

I don’t want people betraying you for getting power weapons like in mcc, so keep friendly fire off. I’d like to have player collision back though

No thanks. Too many griefers chasing challenges would shoot your paper thin vehicle to try and make you get out because they need to get kills with it.

Friendly fire should never be on in BTB, especially if they ever add Heavies. Using tanks and stuff would be way too annoying otherwise

So I can accidentally kill a team mate and get band for it.

I don’t think so

I think it would be too much for crossplay to even handle friendly fire. duh. especially in 12v12. that WOULDNT happen.

This is such a lame, absolutely tired excuse. Yeah, let’s completely upset the balance of the game because of some illusive, griefing. You guys seriously just need your hands held all the time. This is why there’s no pre-game lobbies anymore. It ain’t that serious. What is serious though is the fact that battles have been completely ruined because teammates can just throw grenades AT and THROUGH their allies, killing their opponent (You) without a seconds hesitation as to how this will effect their team. Social plays like a Yoink jungle gym.

It would literally be fine.

This has never happened in near two decades of online Halo. I’ve betrayed people accidentally and haven’t been banned. This is not a thing. You’re over embellishing how this works.

No thanks, friendly fire was the one aspect of classic Halo that I hated.

im not seeing how because it would be too much for it to transfer over from 30 frames from what an xbox can to do up to like over 300 a pc. the xbox would get ran over if it couldnt walk through a teammate ect.
