So I was thinking about the lore and how we never truly saw the full human-covenant war and what if 343 Industries took us back to Harvest and let us play as UNSC soldiers to fight the covenant and witness the rise of the first Spartans (and maybe even be one) and maybe they could let us see noble team sent too reach at the end of the game. Just a thought. Anyone want to expand. - BossOpossum9
There’s definitely still a lot 343 could cover in-game. Though the first encounter at Harvest didn’t have much in the way of proper UNSC soldiers; the only two UNSC soldiers on Harvest during the Covenant’s initial invasion were Sargent Johnson and Sargent Byron(I think that was his name); the rest were militia-men being trained by the two. (Interesting fact, Jenkins was one of these militia-men.)
Anyway, it seemed like a pretty desperate fight. We’ve already seen what happens when we’re taking back to old events through Reach - which was originally an easy and quick victory for the Covenant, taking less than a day, was later expanded into a full military campaign that lasted months. The thing is, desperate fights like the original interpretation of the Fall of Reach are SO outmatched that they simply don’t work for gameplay purposes, and toning it down just for gameplay tends to take away the feeling of desperation it was supposed to have.

Yes I know what you mean but I am talking about the first encounter to be an opening seen in the game like a cutscene perhaps but the main thing is I want to see the rise of spartans and the UNSC to their peak. I want to see Reach be DISCOVERED. I want to see character development not this Fireteam Osiris Bullsh*t.

I mean, too be fair, Osiris had a little bit of character development(nothing’s more develop-ey than introducing them), and they have one of the only character-arcs in the entire game of Halo 5.
Anyway, point is, I get the feeling a lot of that would be a bit underwhelming.

Yes that is true but just look at reach. The fact that the Noble Team spartans would actually say things like “Nasty little buggers, eh six” - JORGE just made them feel more human and more like people and not these super-human all-mighty killing machines.
I’ll repeat myself for the gazillionth time on here (cause that’s what I do best) yes, I’ll take all the prequels they wanna make from that era. The HC War is still my favorite Halo storyline. I can’t get enough stories from that time.
If we were to see a game on Harvest, I would love to play as some ONI Spook who is following the Spartans around on their deployment against The Covenant.
I would love the game to have an ODST feel to it; where you play as a normal Human, up against tremendous odds.

Having your idea through the eyes of the covenant would be a good game

HOLY SH*T thats pretty smart actually. maybe a two sided story where you play as the covenant and an ODST but where eventually their paths cross to see a battle with one victor depending on how you played the game so maybe on easy, normal, and heroic the ODST troop would die but on legendary a spartan would show up to save the ODST’s life.
