Should 343 remove runing, sliding and climbing???

This why people are calling it a “Call of Duty: Halo” game…

Also, I really hope they fix the aim for controller users…

anyways, what do you think? should they remove such things? I’m not sure what to think about it and I’m a H3 main…

shameless bumb

Considering you’re a halo 3 main, that would explain why you feel the way you do. You ever notice how Halo 3 fans typically hold a far more critical stance to Halo Infinite than Halo Reach mains?
Anyway, no. Even if a portion of people wanted Sprint, Clamber and Slide to be gone, it’s far too late in the developmental process to remove them. The maps have been made with these features in mind.

Also, the “Halo is just Call of Duty” argument came from Halo 4’s loadout and killstreak system, not necessarily sprint particularly. Halo plays like Halo plays. I’ll bet money that if Bungie stayed with Halo we’d still have sprint and slide in the game. It’s just what it is now mate. Even Halo 2 almost had sprint but it was never added because of resource management.

People who call it a CoD game simply are just having a knee jerk reaction and comparing the Bazaar map usually. Pretty sure Halo went to the desert with Turf before CoD did. The movements feel natural to Halo and fit in with the combat. Controller aim is almost perfect because it has a skill gap.

they should keep it, my opinion. For faster old school Halo chaos. BUT they can add a feather for online that you can choose like original H3 mode. with sprinting, gliding and climbing disabled.

No. Sprint is finally at a point where it isn’t OP, clamber helps those who aren’t great with crouch jumping reach certain spots and sliding is just sliding.

I’m also a Halo 3 main with 10,000+ games played on this account.

After playing this weekend I don’t have any issue with sprint, slide, clamber or the aim. I’d say clamber is actually one of my favourite additions to the Halo franchise after 3.

Sprint I’ve never liked before, but I actually don’t mind how they’ve done it in this game. It works really well, especially with the radar. It’s sad to see all the feedback about people not liking the radar, I hope they don’t change it as it helps balance sprint even more although it’s pretty negligible either way. The maps would work without sprint and that’s the most important factor.

No, they should 100% not remove them, sprint is balanced(I’m -Yoinking!- surprised too), clamber should be the standard because it’s dumb that a spartan could not do such a thing, always annoyed me that the older titles didn’t have it. Slide is also not game-breaking like COD where you can leave skidmarks while ohk knifing kneecaps. I barely even used slide as it’s not needed to play, but can be used to dodge or get to cover quickly. It is another skill that can come in clutch without changing the game too much.

This Halo impressed me, I like how it is, let’s build off this and not take things away.

This is not directed specifically towards you OP, but I swear, having so much “Halo is COD” discussion around Infinite of all games is so confusing. I guess a lot of people didn’t play Halo 4 (or Reach to a lesser extent). As Deaths Shadow74 said, most of the COD-centered critiques come from the loadouts and ordinance system (I’d also add the perk-esque tactical packages and specializations to that list).

Anyway, I’ll have to agree with most folks here that sprinting is actually in a very good spot right now. Contrary to what some might think it does give players a minor speed boost, but not the extent that it’s a get-out-jail card for people who misjudge their surroundings. Also without sprint you wouldn’t be able to use the slide mechanic which can help immensely when navigating the maps.

I’m indifferent about slide, but sprint and clamber feel good now and despite how some might feel halo has to give concede the modern market somehow.

Especially keep clamber tho. Crouch hoping always felt like a jank solution to a problem that clamber solves.

no. sliding is a good boost and clambering is just generally useful

Sprint and sliding is working exactly like the devs intended. If you dont like it, then dont use it. The speed boost from sprint is non existent, sliding doesnt really do much, and ADS offers no benefit. They put these in the game to attract new players and made the benefits from them weak to make old fans happy. After playing this weekend, this game is almost in a perfect state.

Sprint could be removed without negatively affecting the game. Clamber is already built into map geometry across multiplayer and campaign. It’s honestly an unrealistic level of work to change it at this point. UNLESS a double jump mechanic replaced it. That could work. Sliding is borderline pointless for normal gameplay (Not abusing physics).

If you don’t like sprint don’t use it. And those who do have a very small increase of speed anyway. Sprint is basically used to slide. I did this on the last day of the flight…just walked around not sprinting and it wasn’t any different than sprinting everywhere.

Exactly this. They even removed thrusters, hovering, charging, and ground pound from H5. OP should consider this a step in his direction if anything.

Leave them. It’s 2021 and halo has evolved past the limitations of the Xbox 360.

They are great additions and make the gameplay feel more organic while offering more engaging player choice for movement.

No they shouldn’t. It all works well in infinites sandbox, unlike prior halo experiences

I don’t see the need to remove any of them. The game felt nothing like call of duty and all movement options worked well during the test.

Crazy right! I was surprised too.

This is my point every time with sprint (Halo 2 almost had sprint, but it was never added because of resource management.) it’s just a factor in the typical AAA Shooters now, same goes for slide and clamber.
