It’s been 6 months since the release of Halo 4, and we still don’t have objective gametypes in Big Team Battle!
Big Team Infinity Slayer has always been the most popular playlist in Halo 4. It is fun, but it does not live up to its full potential. The biggest reason why is because Infinity Slayer is the only gametype. It’s the same thing over and over again: Who can get the most kills? People want to have objective based gametypes in Big Team Battle, because not everyone is good at getting kills and some people just want a change of pace. I know 343 just added a “big team objective”, but 6v6 just doesn’t cut it. For one, the vehicle combat is not there. There are no tanks or banshees. The maps are too small for some gametypes. Monolith is a team doubles map, not a big team map.
A big problem with Big Team Infinity Slayer is when 5+ people quit. You need to kill 3 people 100 times. That isn’t any fun. If there were only 3 people left you could just end the game by scoring all of the flags in Big Team Objective, saving 10 minutes. 343 just needs to change the name of “Big Team Infinity Slayer” to “Big Team Battle” and they need to put CTF, KOTH, and Extraction as gametypes along with slayer, and people would play more. Not to mention it would make a lot of people happy.
If 343 adds objective into BTB, they would also have to make the 6v6 objective playlist go back down to a 4v4 playlist so people can have a variety of large map objective and small map objective.
Assault in BTB was another really fun gametype to play in Halo 3 and Reach. It is possible to make it happen in this game. All you need to use is the Grifball gametype. They need to make the loadouts be fully customizable, take away the waypoint from the carriers’ head, and make it so you cannot throw the bomb. There’s Assault for you!
Gametypes that will play the best in BTB Objective:
Big Team Infinity Slayer- This gametype would not be changed.
Big Team CTF- Standard loadouts. No personal ordinance. 3 points to win. 1 flag cap = 1 point.
Big Team Assault- (If this is possible) Standard loadouts. No personal ordinance. 3 points to win. 1 bomb detonation = 1 point. No bomb throwing. Waypoint above bomb carries’ head disabled.
Big Team Extraction- Standard loadouts. No personal ordinance. 3 Extraction objects on the map at once. (A,B,C,D, and E) 1 site extracted = 1 point. 10 points to win.
Big Team KOTH- Standard loadouts. No personal ordinance. each hill is active for 50 seconds. Every second that the team has control of the hil = 1 point. 300 points to win.
By standard loadouts, I mean players can choose between their 5 personal loadouts and the 2 loadouts that 343 provides.
