Should 343 occasionally reset hidden ranks?

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I’m a little salty, but I’ll try to speak reasonably.

So, for the past two months, my placement matches have been against pretty much platinums and maybe some diamonds. I’ll usually get placed in high plat or low diamond. Fair enough. I’m performing well in the matches, but I wouldn’t expect to get placed into high diamond or onyx if I never play anyone of that ranking during my placement matches.

However, once I’m placed, I’m all of a sudden going up against onyx and champion players. This happens to me especially in FFA, where I’m a diamond 3 and playing multiple champions in multiple games (WTF??). In slayer last month, I was diamond 1 playing high onyxes.

It feels like a lose-lose scenario, and it’s very disheartening as a halo player. How are we expected to want to keep playing if we get placed into a low tier and are expected to grind/win consistently against people who are insanely higher in rank? If I were playing and losing against people with the same or lower ranking, that’d be one thing, but ranking down to plat 4 (like I did in January) after losing to a team of all onyxes just doesn’t make sense.

Now I don’t know if I’m just an outlier and my MMR (hidden rank) is wonky, but this really the only reason I’m starting to not have fun in halo. There’s no sense of reward for good performance (in my case).

If anyone else has had a similar experience and figured out a work around, I’d love to hear it.

Sidenote:
I’ve been playing Halo 5 since launch, and I was originally playing on a large HDTV with 30ms input lag. Last month I got a gaming monitor with 1ms input lag, and my gameplay skyrocketed. For the first several months, I was pretty average, and I feel like my hidden rank probably reflects that. So, maybe I’m just in the process of breaking out of a low hidden rank, I dunno.
