Yes

^ vote above.

Phew, that was a tough one.

I vote yes you yoinking self entitled brat

Yes.

I never thought sprint was the issue, it was the maps. So few Mao’s in reach a 4 had that halo flow. Luckily 5’s maps did.

Yes

Why do people keep bringing these topics up, its been discuss to many times let it die.

According to Astronut, sprint isn’t in Halo 5, Sorry, but this thread is now meaningless.

Nice poll. Bye.

Not a useful thread, not a useful topic, and not a useful poll.

Yes they should.

You know why the maps suck? Sprint.

Actually no. The larger maps inst a problem, its the lack of flow. When you can actually look at a map without the “sprint=bad” mindset, you can see what needs to change. For instance in reach, so many maps had the problem of you would start running and BOOM. a wall or a dead end stopping the flow.

Luckily with 5, the smooth flow returns. In 4 and reach it was more about just memorizing “ok this is hear so stop moving now”. But in 5, it goes back to 3’s map design where all the movement feels natural, no longer having to memorize it because the movement across the map makes sense more.

Lol I read through that too.

Another sprint thread? My, I haven’t seen one of these in a whole 30 seconds. They’re about as useful as a swiss cheese inspired -Yoink!-, so if you could just bugger off to whatever hole you came out of and cry yourself to sleep that would be great. We all understand the negative consequences of sprint on map design, but no matter what we do here 343i isn’t going to change a thing. I don’t even care if they change it or not anymore. Sprints overall effect on maps has been massively toned down inside H5 making it almost negligible. Not quite, but almost. When can we all get to arguing about -Yoink- that matters such as the discontinuation of Vault soda and when your next enema, which for you would be washing your mouth out with soap as everything that comes out of it is -Yoink- and your face shares an uncanny resemblance to my -Yoink-, is scheduled to take place?

This subject has been beaten to death, and your poll is rather useless with the options provided. It doesn’t matter how many of these threads pop up, sprint is here to stay. You don’t like it? Fine, just quit trolling the forums with unconstructive complaining about it.

Without a proper poll addition of yes this thread is irrelevant.

Hi! According to the Merriam-Webster and English Oxford Dictionaries, Sprint is defined as: “An act or short spell of running at full speed.”

For starters, canonically Spartans–or John-117, at least, can sprint at 105km/h. This is not evident in gameplay.

Secondly, Halo 5’s “sprint” can be maintained indefintely, for the entire duration of the match. However, IRL, Sprint velocity lasts for times which are measured in seconds, not minutes or hours, for humans and animals. Short =/= infinite, therefore the “Sprint” ability in Halo 5 is anything but sprint.

However, Spartan Charge actually fits the definition of sprint. So at least one form of sprint is in Halo 5.

If you do not accept the definitions of words in the English language sourced from a neutral third party which is the authority for those definitions, then I can’t help you. Actually, no, I can. If you don’t like the definition of sprint in the dictionary, then please contact the publishers of the Oxford Dictionary and the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, and provide a sufficient body of evidence to prove that their definition of sprint is incorrect.

When the definition of sprint changes in the dictionary, then I’ll agree that Halo 5’s “Sprint” ability falls under the definition of sprint. Until then, keep laughing. Laughter is good for everyone. It doesn’t change the fact that you are currently ignoring the neutral third party authority on the definitions of the English language.

Now, if we discard all the other rubbish that people who happen to play Halo think sprint is all about–shield recharge timer resetting, increasing melee damage [Spartan Charge], lowering weapons so you can’t fire them whilst moving in an FPS, etc, what you’re left with is:

simply an ability to run faster for a limited period of time.

There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, it’s not even worth discussing. It’s barely even a change in the sandbox–we already have the ability to move at any velocity from zero to maximum base player velocity. Sprint just allows players to increase their speed for a short time. Whoop de do. How interesting. The Halo community has been discussing this for 10 years? Okay…

Now, as to the other gameplay mechanics which I mentioned…those have their own problems, and are not relevant to the discussion about sprint.

In summary: check the dictionary when you aren’t sure what something means. Then you won’t spend 10 years arguing about things tangential to what you are trying to solve. There’s no overthinking this. There’s just a simple choice between recognizing the dictionary definition of sprint, or ignoring the one chance you have at recognizing and resolving this issue.

I sat down one day and opened the dictionary because I was confused as to what sprint meant. You’re just laughing and not contributing anything to the discussion at all.

This poll is just a little bias and I am confused as to what OP hopes to achieve.
