In my opinion and experience, most people dont play halo multiplayer for its realism, and don’t care how multiplayer fits into the “Halo universe”, so the idea of designing MP around spartan 4s playing virtual combat sims is kind of wasted. Wars games is basically the reason we aren’t getting elites. It also spawned the stupid post game chest bump BS. 343 should seriously consider dropping the war games concept, and just put as much cool stuff as possible in MP, regardless of how much it contradicts the canon.
Also, spartan 4s suck, and i dont like being told that im playing as a spartan 4 -___-
I guess I agree. The concept of canon multiplayer is cool and all, but all it does is limit multiplayer itself. No armor effects, no fun weapons, etc. The developed maps can still be canon, though. I liked that idea.

Yes
You’re absolutely right, but then again, it doesn’t hurt. Except give us back Elites, stop taking features out of Halo, holy crap 343
ehh I think I prefer the Canonical connections more. keep it canon

I dont think it really limits anything, you can still have the armor effects and have it be canon, Also idk what you mean but no fun weapons( you mean the soccer and golf balls, and golf club, type thing.
No because in the lore the Spartans don’t ditch War Games.

- Grim Brother One has said that Elites and Spartans train alongside each other. There’s goes one of your points. They’re being teased heavily by saying they train and do operations with each other is hinting at their return.
- When 343 tries to make a joke armor, people say it’s ugly and it doesn’t fit Halo. example being FOTUS.
- You’re exaggerating the post game scenes just like most people on here. A high five doesn’t make them dude-bros or whatever BS name they’re given. Once again, 343 tries to have fun with the multiplayer and people says it doesn’t fit Halo.
- The fact you’re saying that a simulation that can make any environment, situation, or enemy takes away from multiplayer is just bad logic.
No, yes, why bother even thinking about it.

Just because things have been hinted at does not mean they are confirmed. Many of the Elite faithful are still very skeptical. But I still think the whole war games thing should stick around. So long as 343 returns to us our playable Elites.
I love the fact it’s canon.
And 343i kinda did but did not ditch the canonized Multiplayer when they created the Anvil Initiative.
Really, the only reason why people don’t like Multiplayer being canon is because Elites aren’t playable. Outside of that, it literally affects nothing else. The Anvil Initiative fixes this one issue.
The only question is, does Halo 5’s Multiplayer take in the War Games Simulation or the Anvil Initiative. Or the War Games Simulation, but because the Campaign has us working with the Arbiter, is his forces allowed on Infinity for a while? Only time will tell.

Who’s to say we are even on Infinity in Halo 5? From the looks of the Halo 5 Beta, it appeared that those Spartans were not training on the Infinity, but on a sort of space station. I assume this station is under the Anvil initiative. Of course that could have just been for the Beta. Our multiplayer experience may take place elsewhere.

Didn’t both live action trailers show the Infinity? Also, I think the majority of the Spartan IV program is on the Infinity. I would wager that’s where the simulations take place.
OP, you argue canonized multiplayer takes away from the multiplayer but I see no evidence of that. Whether the multiplayer was canon or not in H4, Elites were not going to be playable either way. That was more of an artistic direction than a causal relation to the multiplayer being canon. They could have easily explained playable elites as putting yourself in the enemy’s shoes or crosstraining exercises. I think retconning the canonical aspects would only take away from the canon, not make the multiplayer experience better.
Also, some free discussion advice: avoid the word “we” when stating your individual opinions. It immediately puts those with differing opinions on the defensive as it appears you are speaking on their behalf and can lead to increased hostility.
Edit: the OP reads much better now, thank you for editing it.
I LOVE that its canon.
It makes feel like your spartan is really part of the universe.
Honestly I like the chest pumps and all the high fives and stuff! It gives Spartans more personality and sometimes I can relate to it because behind the screen, is me chest pumping with my friends when I wreck in a game!

Hey Thel! Glad to see you’re using the forums
I agree, it’s cool to think of my customized Spartan as being in the universe for real. Really fighting next to other spartans. I love that they made it canon.
Considering that 343 Industries just recently doubled down on the canon aspect of multiplayer by retroactively adding all previous Halo multiplayer suites to the lore as unique Spartan War Games scenarios (primarily via the Universe section on this very site), I doubt they’ll just drop it. I personally think it’s a cool touch that adds a bit of class to the presentation if it’s done right. And, for the record, they have taken a lot of missteps on that presentation, but they do finally seem to be zeroing in after three years.

Yes. Agreed 100%
Keep it cannon. Like that my spartan is in some way cannon.
I could care less, just bring back elites and ill be cool with it
