Should 343 delay infinite?

Hey, I want to know what you guys think in this regard so let me know below, and in the polls forums I’ve made a poll about this and would greatly appreciate it if you could participate in that.

I personally think that it needs a delay as they can only improve the graphics by so much before release, and EVERYTHING needs to be there at launch! That includes ray tracing! The fact that ray tracing is being added in a patch and that they can’t confirm if even just the core features will be there at launch really does worry me.

Like I said earlier, let me know what you think and I would love for you to participate in my poll (it shouldn’t be hard to find). Thanks for reading this and have a great day!

I don’t see a need for a delay. There is still quite a bit of time for improvements. They still haven’t even given a release date. It just says holiday 2020.

As a Halo fan, i dont want this to release,
as a gamer, it definitely needs a delay so they can sort things out, but im pretty sure what you see its what they re going for. But a delay wont happen… not when Microsoft stated that Infiinite is launching with series X.

Look at how long it took to get FF not only in H5 but HW2!

Pretty sure if people gotta wait for the full game almost a year after lunch (h5) then the player base and fan base will plummet.

This game is not just a new halo title, but 343i rebuttle. They miss this one, alot of fans myself included with drop off.

Gamepads on day one? Hmmmmmm. Cant get a refund that way.

You’re part of the problem if this is truly your perspective on Halo Infinite.

If you really loved Halo, you would see that this needs to be delayed.

No I just have enough common sense to judge the entire game from a short demo video. It’s not like that was final product and the release is a couple of weeks away. Final product is going to be better than what was shown. Also the demo video I watched from my Xbox one already looked better than the one I watched on steam as well.

You don’t know that the final product will be better.

We do know what the game looks like after 5 years of development. Do you actually think that the game will look significantly better in 4 months?

Who’s the actually the one with common sense here?

But their isn’t a need for delay? Nobody at 343 or Microsoft promised a game that would look like RDR2,Witcher 3, LOU2, or GOW3.
Yes the game needs polishing and touch up, which are things done during the final months before it goes gold. Also Chris Lee in an interview already said this demo was done and made before the cancellation of E3, which was officially cancelled on March 11th.

Comparing to the games Halo Infinite is going up against, I think it actually looked really good for the state the game was in. Personally, I’m more excited for Infinite after watching the demo than I was playing the beta for Halo 5.

The official screenshots shown look as bad, if not worse, than some of the content in games like Fallout 4. Watching videos there’s no expressions from the enemies, they can be screaming and their faces are static (no animation), textures are abysmal.

People did comparisons of screen shots between Halo 3, Reach and Halo Infinite. Sadly some of the content from Halo 3 looked more impressive than Infinite. The firearm textures for Reach were far better than Infinite.

You don’t know either so why try and demand a delay? The game may end up looking just like that… It maybe way better looking than that, either can happen. But the game is still months away so yeah I feel that is enough time for improvements.

No they didn’t promise any of those things. But this is not just another game, this is Halo. Which historically has always pushed the boundaries of visual fidelity (with considering it’s unique art style & direction) This demo is problematic for many because it is the summation of work done to a game that has been done over the course of 5 years. I don’t care if it’s an old demo, that’s irrelevant. Typically games look better in their reveal than they do for release, because the developers want to drive hype - Halo looks terrible in it’s REVEAL. Do you actually think 4 months will change that? Short answer is NO.

You can believe what you want, but remember this conversation when you purchase an unfinished game with a low population.

Short answer is NO.

I never said 4 months would change it. I just stated it was an older build. Which we’ll assume this for a second, lets say the build was done March 1. Thats 6-8 months before release and a lot of polishing and touch up go in the works in that time. Microsoft made a mistake with Crackdown 3, I doubt they’ll ever make that mistake again. I’ll let Ubi and EA do that and watch those game plummet because of downgraded quality from reveals.

And if were being honest, Halo was forced to push the boundaries of its game engine because the engine was made in 1998 or '99. They were constantly changing it and improving it just to keep up with modern games. If Halo Infinite is the quality we saw from the demo or the gameplay trailer I’d be happy.

Also reading your other posts, I wouldn’t be so sure Halo Infinite had a 5 year development, more like 2 or 3.

Odds are I won’t buy Infinite on launch day… It’s not graphics that concern me. Games don’t have to have top of the line graphics for me to play and enjoy. Over all function of the game is my concern. 343 hasn’t made a fully functional game yet on Xbox one. I figured I would probably wait a few days if not a week after release to pick it up. I play quite a bit of HCE and H2 in MCC and their graphics aren’t too of the line but they are fun to play and that matters more than graphics to me.

No I don’t think they should. The graphics will get better and it’s an open world game. Halo was never a graphical wow. Also looks better than its competition (competitive fps) games. It will get better and I rather they use the power for better physics, AI and immersion as opposed to making it visually stunning. I’m playing a video game not a movie . N
I
they can make the game sooooo much better then yes delay it

We don’t, and will not, have enough information and perspective to answer this question. This is a dart board question for outsiders like us.

So I will say, hopefully not, but if necessary, I wouldn’t mind a delay at all.

I’m fine with a delay. Anything that would help polish the game seems better than releasing a half baked product. That said I do like the game visuals so far but they don’t look complete.

Hey man, come one. Chill a little! We all just want whats best for the game and calling people ‘part of the problem’ is only going to make things worse. We need to be non-hostile and clear as to what criticisms we have so that 343 and Microsoft can hopefully take the correct actions needed, whether that means a delay is ultimately up to them. I created this thread to see if people think that the game warrants a delay based off of what we’ve seen so far, which isn’t a lot. So there’s no point getting aggressive towards people if they don’t think it should be delayed. There are a lot of good arguments for both sides.

I know what you’re saying but what I was going for was purely based off of what we’ve seen so far as although we don’t have enough information to say ‘this game won’t look good at launch unless we have a delay for definite’, we can still say ‘I don’t think this game will look good at launch so, from what I’ve seen, I think that it should have a delay’.

To be honest as well, you can actually make a fair guess as to if the graphics will improve a lot based off of other game trends of improvement. Also, the main reason why I personally think that it should be delayed, even by just a bit, is because we know that ray tracing will be added in a patch post launch and they didn’t give a direct answer when asked if all core features will be there at launch which does worry me a lot.
