Shoud 343 Encourage Sport instead of FastFood

So, in America there is this thing, that when Halo 4 players buy sportsdrink or chips, they’ll get double XP.

So today, I was thinking that America suffers a lot from health problems due to obesity. (No offense), but this problem is also probably (exessively) high among gamers. In my opinion 343i shouldn’t encourage eating unhealthy food and drinks. Instead they should encourage the use of gyms and sports facilities.

That’s why I have this little poll… Would it be better if 343 had an action where they would give away double xp codes for ever hour of exersize in a gym or other sports like football for example?

In my opinion they should have.

Where is your poll you speak of? And how would they make $$$ off of activity?

EDIT:
There it is.

It’s Microsoft’s partnership with Pepsi, got nothing to do with anything but money.

That’s a nice sentiment, but it is really difficult to do in real life. The logistics are just killer. How would 343 know who is doing all these activities? How could people prove that they did it instead of just saying ‘I went to the gym, give me double XP!’

Nice in concept, impossible in practice.

Give download codes to the gym’s and facilities involved. They can track for how long aperson has been training, and for every hour they give him/her a code.

OR

Print the code on the receipt. 1 code per hour

Well, then 343 should have done Halo 4 for kinetic. We would have 300 milions of people loosing like 50 LBs within 3 weeks with soo many rage jumps lol.

This made my day.

But maybe they should do it for Halo 5. OR Make Halo 5 compatible with kinect.

Which gyms would get it? Most (if not all) require membership to use their facilities. And no one gym really dominates the US market like that (except maybe Bally’s). What about the vast majority of others? More than 90% of the US gym goers market would be left out.

The advantage of doing a promotion with Pepsi/Tostitos is that anyone in the county can buy and use the product. That isn’t the same thing with gyms- the sheer volume of them in the US would mean Microsoft would have to do contracts with tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of different legal representatives of gyms to achieve the same size of audience.

Again: nice idea, but in practice its just too much.

Maybe with Kinect it could be possible, with their fitness games.

You know how much money that would cost?

Pepsi already had a system in place. They’ve already had a partnership before; it was just much simpler this way. In addition, not many people have gym memberships in the first place. Microsoft can reach a much larger audience and at a significantly cheaper cost.

Although I completely agree, I wish they had a healthier option. I recently lost 40 pounds and I’m doing my best to stay in shape and live a healthy lifestyle. Drinking mountain dew and eating doritos doesn’t align with what I’m trying to do.

Peoples’ health is up to them. If I want to drink 24 cans of Game Fuel in a week, the n it is my decision! >:[

Or so what some other people did: go into a store and copy the codes off the back of the Doritos bags. It may be immoral, but it beats eating all those Doritos.

> Or so what some other people did: go into a store and copy the codes off the back of the Doritos bags. It may be immoral, but it beats eating all those Doritos.

Also an option, but I bet there are enough people who actually buy (and eat/drink) a total of 100 doritos and 100 mountain dews to get the maximum double xp…

I think it is just irresponsible to encourage this unhealthy diet…

If you want to promote healthiness, then label vegetables at the grocery store with Halo 4 double XP.

It’s exactly the reason why they do it this way, they get a lot more profit. You can’t blame them, it’s the fault of people themselves if they want to eat and drink all that stuff just for same in-game content. They don’t have to buy it, it’s their own choiche.

Get double xp by using an app that syncs up with how many miles you run!

> If you want to promote healthiness, then label vegetables at the grocery store with Halo 4 double XP.

The people would do what they did with Doritos: copy the codes down and not buy the product. All it would do is make people actually stop in the vegetable isle.

Why not put codes on the caps of things like v8 juice(v8 fusion please!) and other healthy foods? That is definitely more possible then the gym. I would be buying so much v8 fusion! Love that stuff!

The gym/fitness center that I go to gives you a scanning card (with a barcode) after you enter into a membership. Every time you go, you scan the card so that it checks you in and records will show that you went that day.

V8 is healthy (I like them too), but like soft drinks, consuming too much of it for a long time will backfire you on.
Once every two days is my maximum.

> If you want to promote healthiness, then label vegetables at the grocery store with Halo 4 double XP.

It’s about the irresponsible thing to encourage (american) gamers (not the most healthy people on this planet) to have an even worse eating habit.

Encouraging people to do more exersise and/or eat more healthy is much better.

EXACTLY! This is what I mean, just go to the gym for 2 hours a week, and the whole Halo community would be much more healthy!
