So I was talkin to someone that played the flight and he told me about the ammo capacity for the shotgun even though each magazine has seven shots you can only carry one extra and this shotgun is weaker than any of the previous versions basically in my opinion this makes this the worst shotgun in all of Halo history so I hope we’re not fighting the flood in Halo infinite because this shotgun will pretty much be useless against them I would take the max ammo at least up to 35 this would be one magazine in the gun and 4 extra or I would have 8 rounds in the magazine one in the gun and 3 spares which would be a total of 32 but personally it was up to me I would take the shotgun back to its former glory and both how much ammo it could hold and how much extra you could carry which was the Halo CE version
We need to remember this is not a shotgun that is meant to replace the past shotgun versions. Halo weapons are essentially split into 4 “tiers”
- tier 1 - essentially starting weapons, they can hold there own enough but generally will be pitched for tier 2 weapons (ar is the most promenant example) - tier 2 - consists of the bulk of the sandbox. Each has their own playstyle and range of effectiveness. Where they lack in being an jack of all trades but master of none, they specialize in specifics. The bulldog fits into ter 2 as its specifically a close range playstyle weapon while also not being a 1 click done weapon. - tier 3 - power weapons. Past shotguns can essentially be put into this field given their massive 1 shot capability - utility - not many weapons fall into here but they generally arent used for kill potential, but instead do specific things that can allow for control or counterability. Plasma pistol and most likely the disrupter would fall into here. The bulldog is not meant to be a power house. Its meant to be a playstyle choice one may take when choosing to leave behind a tier 1 weapon. You also have to consider how spawns work for tier 2 weapons in infinite. They will not respawn as long as the weapon is in use. So if its on the map/has ammo, a new one will not spawn (not a set timer). Giving a tier 2 weapon too much ammo does risk it essentially never being back into rotation. If your talking just from a pve stand point, I dont think anyone can actually make a comment on how the bulldog is in its current damage and ammo count state given no one but 343 has used it in campaign.
I love the bulldog as is. 1 shot, 1 melee or 2 rapid shots if you can’t close the gap for a melee.

I agree the shotgun is trash wont be using it
It probably does need a slight boost IMO. It was super weak even at close range. I dont want it to be able to take someone down at range but it should be deadly within 5 feet.

it 1 shot plus melee, i dont see how thats not strong
I assumed that there will be a regular shotgun in the game also. Do we know that’s not true?

The hole damage thing isn’t so much of a problem however the pitiful ammo capacity is we had more shots than 14 in Halo CE Halo 2 Halo 3 Halo 3 ODST Halo Reach. Halo 4 and even Halo 5
After playing the flight, yes this is my least favourite shotgun in Halo history. Extremely unsatisfying to use. and it’s design is just generic.
Even if they ad the real Halo shotgun after launch, we might not have it in campaign ever, it should be in the campaign for our first play-through, this was a confusing change for sure.

Yes, they have confirmed that the Bulldog has replaced the classic shotgun. It may or may not be added after launch sometime.
The bulldog looks like a very effective weapon when used properly.

It isn’t but that doesn’t rule out a second shotty.
Like how doom has the combat and super shotty.

The bulldog is it’s own weapon that is filing the role of the traditional shotgun for Halo Infinite.
The shotgun that has been in past games won’t be in Halo Infinite at launch. Having 2 shotguns ain’t something we need.
However since Halo Infinite is being supported for years and years to come 343i have said they have interest in adding older weapons and vehicles into the game over time.
Whilst the “OG shotgun” may not be there at launch it may come eventually.
Honestly I prefer the Bulldog. It’s a much more interesting weapon to use.
The old shotgun was just a 1 shot weapon, shoot it, put it back in the pocket for when someone comes round a corner again.
The Bulldog promotes more active and thoughtful gameplay. This isn’t a one hit weapon that you’re rarely going to use. This is something you can really take into battle and use it as a primary weapon and less of a backup weapon choice.
Honestly, when more people actually get hands on the weapon and understand how to use it (not like the old shotgun) the opinion on it will be way more positive overall. It’s just generally a fun and good weapon to have in the sandbox.
Its also reducing the amount of people corner camping with a shotgun by a tonne, that strategy is way less effective now, thank goodness.
Ok, I do not want to be that guy but I find this post a bit hard to read with the run-on sentence. But I think I see what you are saying.
You should probably play the game yourself first to see how the weapons plays rather than rely on the word of your friend. Your friend seemed to neglect to mention that the new shotgun has a noticeably longer range and a faster rate of fire to compensate for the lower damage. And, as others have mentioned, it is its own weapon separate from the classic shotgun that will not be in the game at launch.

again, pretty sure past halos worked on a timer for tier 2 weapons. Infinite does not. Its about their ammo and their existence in the map. Limited ammo cap makes sense so one cant have it forever.

We also start with better default weapons than other halos, both the AR and the sidekick are amazingly reliable weapons. Having 14 shots in a slightly more powerful weapon is a fine trade off.
It will probably just need some time getting used to since it’s a completely new weapon.
I enjoyed the feel of the new shotgun…
But have to admit I didn’t get my hands on it much away from the firing range.
And when people cry out “what about infection?”… how come we can’t just drop the health of the zombies so that they are still one shot kills… and play on.

We need two shotguns in the game no matter what you say it wouldn’t break the game if done right also when playing against other players you should really be expecting players to be waiting around the corner for you and I think you’re basing all your assumptions on multiplayer I’m talking about campaign in the storyline of the game I could really care less about PVP plus if the flood do show back up I would hate to be taking this shotgun into battle with me it would be pretty much useless against them

I’m not saying two shotguns would break the game, and no we really don’t need two. That’s just bloating the sandbox with redundant weapons - a problem Halo 4 & 5 had such a problem with.
If you’d actually consider what I’m saying rather than writing off any actual points that don’t directly agree with you you’d probably understand where I’m coming from.
Im not saying every single person in Multiplayer camps with a shotgun BUT it’s a very real problem within the multiplayer. That problem is basically completely eradicated with the Bulldog and requires and enables the player to be more active in game rather than being limited to a literal 2 inches to kill range.
This will also hold true for Campaign, you’re not limited with the Bulldog to shooting it at point blank range. You’re able to damage to enemies within a decent range - so if you’re fighting flood this is still going to hold true.
You’re not limited to fighting the flood with just a shotgun, if that’s your preferred play style, that’s great but it’s not everyone’s. If the weapon makes you play differently, adapt or use something else.
You haven’t provided any argument other than “I can’t kill flood with the bulldog” when you’re basing your experience with the weapon off of what someone else has told you or even know if the flood are in the game or not.
