Shotgun Trading.

Does anyone else get annoyed by the fact that just becauses someone has a shotgun, they get to ignore your melee in a 1v1? Not only that it doesn’t trade but also the fact that you can punch a millisecond before and still not get anything for your actions?

I don’t understand what exactly you’re trying to say here… What do you mean by having the shotgun user ignore melees?

Are you saying because someone has a shotgun, they can take more melee damage?

i have noticed on many occasions where i would go to punch someone not knowing they had a shotgun, they do there little shotgun melee technique, yet they still have full shields. i am pretty sure im not imagining this. Happens when a sword user tries to kill a shotgun wielder, even if they attack slightly before, the shotgun overules them…

A shotgun should always beat someone melee-ing in a 1v1 situation, unless the shotgun user doesn’t have thumbs. I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying.

Sorry, what?

Think he’s saying after you melee someone wielding a shotgun, your melee attack seems to never affect them after they shoot you. Probably a latency/lag issue.

oh god i have made one of those threads…

has no one seriously never noticed this…maybe its just lag but it seems shotgun has some sort of priority ok ok ok…try a test…next time you see a shotgun wielder charging you to do a shotgun melee (shoot then punch instantly) try and trade a melee with him and you will notice that his shields remain intact…

Ok. Hes saying this: you know how sometimes in reach if you would melee someone who had a sword. your melee would’ve killed the sword user but because he meleed pretty much the same time as you. the “thunk” sound of a punch is there but you melee doesn’t kill or hurt them. thats what hes saying. But in regards to a shotgun followed up with a melee.

The shotgun has hitscan. The moment the trigger is pulled, the bullets already hit the target. In this case, when you meleed him when he shoots his gun, your melee never happened, you’re on your to the ground.

Other times, it’s lag, and the shotgun has been known throughout the history of this series to favor the host when being used. That can have an influence on the outcome as well.

i understand this, however if i am fully shielded then it means he not only shot me but also punched…considering i punched at the same time he shot surely my melee shouldnt disappear…

The Shotgun uses Hitscan detection. Meaning once the shotgun is fired, the pellets have already hit you. If you’re in melee range against a shotgun, the shotgun would have gibbed you, meaning your melee would have made the sound of hitting him, but no damage done because you are dead.

Is shotgun-melee that big of a thing?

Whenever I’m using the shotgun its always a one shot kill if I’m in close enough range to do a melee attack too

this still doesnt explain why you cant trade a melee agasint a sword user with no shields…but yeah i didnt think it was one shot kill so that explains a hell of alot…does that make me a noob for not knowing this until now?

Eh, no? The shotgun is able to kill in one shot without melee… Only the Mauler needed a melee to kill.

When you melee someone who is in the act of a lunge with the sword your melee does only like 25% damage.

What does this have to do with Halo 4?

well i have been schooled…thank you for the responses…maybe i should pick up the shotgun more…

and it has nothing to do with halo 4, i was hoping nobody would notice
