When I use the shotgun I literally have to be on top of someone for it to kill them, any small distance merely dings their shields then they flail and I end up dying. While I’ve observed other players getting shotgun sprees like the good old days, not even getting close as I have to. whats the deal?
I’ve not experienced a problem with the shotgun distance. Don’t expect to get one shot kills with it unless your opponent has very low health or is very close to you though. It takes skill and practice to use it though. I’ve not seen anyone else have this sort of problem.
I use it as a very close quarters weapon only.
You might want to try using a combo - grenade or plasma pistol.
What I have learned is that you need to be very close to get a one-shot kill. I usually shoot then pummel to make sure the dude dies.

I feel you man. I swear everyone else picks up the shotgun and gets instant, long range kills with it. When I try to use it, sometimes it takes 3 shots to kill someone. I could have gotten DMR headshots faster.
Doesn’t happen to me. But if I’m at medium range or so, I usually soften them up with burst fire from the ar or 2-3 dmr shots. Works like a charm.
Oh and yeah, definately follow up a shotgun blast with a melee. If they’re still standing after the blast, they’ll go down for this.
