I’m not sure if anyone’s picked up on this yet but in the recently released ‘UNSC weapons’ trailer, at 0:49 where the shotgun is being shown off, the player gets multiple headshot medals with it. It’s definitely a welcome addition as far as I’m concerned, but what do you think?
I don’t think those were head shot medals, as they were clearly body shots. What I did notice though, is that you can zoom in with the shotgun…

I’m pretty sure those are just the standard binoculars.

Yeah you get the Binoculars just like with the assault rifle. Which I,m sure we already had…

Pretty sure that’s the standard Visor zoom-in. I don’t see a reticle.
Maybe we can now shoot with any weapon while using binoculars (obviously it’ll be harder with no reticle).

That was just regular old visor binocular zoom. It zooms in a fraction after shooting.
I’m not sure what to think of it. It does kind of look like the kills are body shots but then the player is clearly getting headshot medals (skull with a small X where the brain would be).

Don’t worry binoculars aren’t an effective tool against Spartans.

Maybe so that the new people who are used to being able to zoom with any weapon in other modern shooters are able to adapt to this game easier.
No, its not headshot capable. He gets a kill medal, and an extermination medal. Also look at the kill feed it says kill 10 points, headshot 15 points. It wouldnt make any sense if it was a headshot weapon.

It looks like the medal he gets is standard medal for getting a kill. sure does look like the headshot medal though. Besides, surely getting a medal for every kill is a little pointless??

1st shot: Reload this
2nd shot: Killing Spree
3rd shot: Killing Frenzy
4th shot: Kill
5th shot: Kill
It would be insanely funny, but a bit pointless to get headshots with the shotgun if you can pretty much instantly kill enemies up close.

If you pay little attention, you will notice he zooms in right after firing the shot.

It’s the Binoculars for the Spartans. It wouldn’t be necessary if you could zoom in with a Shotgun.

To me it looks like the accidental “stick click” from previous Halos. Still happens to me when I use the Shotgun.

Those are medals for getting kills not headshots. Most ordnance weapons have a specific medal but it appears as though the shotgun doesn’t have one, so you get a ‘kill’ medal rather than a ‘shotgun kill’ medal. If you pause at 0:54 you will see the medal and ‘+10 Kill’ appear on the HUD.
Edit: The same medal appears at 1:04 when the player takes out a Warthog with the SD. It is definitely not a headshot medal. You can also see the the medal for destroying vehicles is back; it last appeared in Halo 3.
That was just a “Kill” medal, and a “Reload This.”
If you watch earlier, a player gets a Kill medal with just DMR body shots.
