Shotgun doesn't insta kill?

I was playing warzone and had a blaze of glory shotgun, I shot a guy point blank range and I’m the one who died? How? I know… Halo 5 sucks

Sounds like lag. The blaze of glory is practically broken. It’s one of the best weapons in WZ.
Also, shouldn’t you be trained by now to tap the melee button immediately after firing a shotgun?

You shouldn’t have to that’s the problem

Do it anyways, just to make sure. Also just because its point-blank doesn’t mean its a sure kill. A person can and will survive if they aren’t completely in the circle reticle when you fire. Its happened to me and I’ve done that too so don’t always bank on the surekill, hence the follow-up melee. Further more he could have had upgraded shields, further increasing his chance of surviving a clip shot.
