Shorter motion sensor reduces camping? yeah right.

I’d just like to say that camping is still extremely prevalent in this game, and as such they should extend the motion sensor back to its original range.

A prime example of camping is the game I just played. Team slayer on plaza, whole enemy team spent their entire game camped over on snipe. No way of getting to them whatsoever, it turned In to a replica game of team BRS on lockout. (worst game mode ever)

One team mate gets fed up and leaves, our other decides to start betraying me. The worst part is, one on their team was a “champion” to to be honest he was -Yoink-. I won a 1v1 with him everytime yet, they won the game sho he’ll continue to go up in rank.

If this is how people are achieving champion, they should hang themselves. Before people start shouting “use co-ordination!” We tried, it only works so well.

For the record, I’m not saying a longer motion sensor will prevent camping. I’m just saying preventing camping was apparently 343’s reasoning for making the motion sensor shorter. It isn’t working, and we want our REAL motion sensor back.

I don’t see how 343 could think that a SHORTER motion sensor range would REDUCE camping.
a SHORTER motion sensor range PROMOTES camping.

If I know that an enemy Spartan can’t sense me until he’s almost right on top of me, then I’ll camp and wait for him to come around a corner before meleeing him to death with just ONE blow.

Game developers have many talents but common sense cause & effect deliberations do not appear to be one of them. Case in point: gearing HALO5 towards pro gamers when casual gamers are the largest, most profitable gamer demographic in the market.

Radar wasn’t reduced to prevent camping… it was reduced because you could see people from halfway across the map with it’s original size.

Extending the radar only means campers will be able to see you coming from further away. Common sense. Campers will camp regardless, and a smart camper will stay still or crouch to stay off radar.

The game is great, but I agree the camping is a bit silly, and is a bit of a problem. There’s nothing that can be done though, so I guess it’s a moot point. My biggest problem is that people with camo don’t appear on the radar, and all the servers are in the USA.

Campers everywhere!

Being that camo is considered a powerup, I find this situation to be fair. Just puts more emphasis on map control and powerup timing.

I agree with half of your statement. Halfway across the map with the original sensor is a little dramatic don’t you think?

Yes if they can see you from father it makes it easy for them BUT, with this new sensor being so small they are not only controlling a tiny area or corridor, but they can now camp entire sections of the map because they can move freely until their opponent is right next to them.

Depends on the map, you played in Beta, Radar was ridiculous on Truth. You could spot the enemies leaving their base from your base.

You can move just as freely… they aren’t given some advantage that you don’t have as well. They won’t see you on radar until you’re right up on them either. The way I see it is you got outplayed, and you’re trying to blame it on the system.

camping is a legit strategy maybe learn counters instead of complaining just a suggestion

Seeing as how every FPS game will have campers…

so…if u knew that the whole team was camping @sniper, why the -Yoinking!- hell did ur team (and you) always ran into the same trap?

Nah, just a casual excuse for easy kills.

sure, if you call camping outplaying someone?

We didn’t repeatedly run in to a “trap” imagine a game where noone leaves their base? Oh wait, no need to as I described what was happening in my post. Remember BR lockout? Noone ever moved. If they did they were -Yoinked!- on the spot.

So there we all were getting bored of trying to beat a sniper at long range.

I’m sorry, counters? Please enlighten me? Moat spaces are so wide/open now that escaping a grenade is as simple as thrusting out the way. The only optional route in ti the snipe on plaza is through the back which again, is a huge line of sight perfect for a decent sniper. Or a few campers.

I think my main issue with this is the pistol should not be as good as It is. Yes you can fight back, but -Yoink-. You can beat people at long range too, its almost as bad as the BR in the old games. Not quite that bad though, I’d be happy with a slight reduction in its rate of fire.

If anything, I’ve found that the shorter range assists camping because no one can see me pop out with a scattershot and go back into hiding anymore.

I agree with the OP,

The Motion-tracker in H5 is a sad excuse for something that was balanced, good and reliable in other Halo’s. Reducing it only made the camping worse than it already was. And as far as the ‘camo not showing in the radar’ one goes, yeah. You’re already invisible (as far as you can call it that), so you not being on the radar is too much. I don’t understand why they tried to fix something that wasn’t broken?

I do call it out playing you. They didn’t do anything against the rules. They took up a tactical defensive position and won the game. You’re throwing a tantrum and now you’re not even staying on topic anymore with your own thread. Your main example has nothing to do with radar because as you just said they were long ranging you with pistols and sniper. Suck it up and stop being a poor sport. /thread.

there’s a difference between tactical waiting and camping

This short motion tracker promotes back reaping and destroys face to face battles. This is my initial problem with it.

They didn’t try to fix it, they tried to improve it. I’m personally okay with it because if your team is good, it isn’t hard to counter a camper. Campers usually crouch, they’re not going to show up anyway, so it doesn’t matter. The thing the radar does is give less warning to the camper. I also do understand the hate against it though, nothing to rage over, but yeah

Camping at the sniper spawn? Lol if anyone here made it up to a rank 50 in H3 slayer they would know that every game consisted of either team holding off each side of the map and a whole big cat and mouse battle would ensue.

Halo is not supposed to be a run&gun rushing game, its all about strategy and holding off sniper side on plaza is a legit tactic IMO. I never known IRL an army to not hold the tactical high ground and effectively ‘camp’ lol.
