Short kill times? Or...

Too powerful guns? What is it? I think we can all agree that it is much easier to get a kill/die in this game compared to halo 2/3. Is that because the ar, smg, and pistol are op? Or is it because we don’t have enough shields?

In my opinion I think the ar, smg, and pistol are way to easy to use. Although it isn’t impossible, it is much harder for a skilled player to kill two unskilled players because the assault rifle is way to powerful.

The battle rifle should not lose to an assault rifle in a medium range gunfight

what do you guys think?

I don’t mind the pistol as it is pretty good when wielded by a skilled person. The AR however is -Yoink- because any random can pick it up and get a kill with it by spraying from half way across the map. I agree that the battle rifle should not lose to an AR in a medium range gunfight. With every iteration this game is getting dumbed down for the newcomers and “casual” players.
Casual players have never, and will never provide longevity to a game. The competitive community does. Don’t cater to the kids who have their parents buy them halo for christmas because in a couple of months they will move to the next trendy game. Look at Counter Strike community. Farthest thing from an easy to pick up game and it is thriving.

Can you show videos of BR’s loosing in medium ranged firefights? I don’t mean someone attacking someone else from behind, I mean a BR vs AR firefight at what you call mid-range.
Where we can prove the wall does not stand a chance against a smart scoped AR, can it be shown someone is putting in a lot of effort with their BR and still loosing to an AR at mid range in a consistent manner?
And lastly, how can we have not enough shielding BUT the BR is a potentially puuuuurfect killer at 4 shots?

I don’t have a video but keep in mind we have descoping and ARs are descoping machines. At least BR to BR there is a break in fire to rescope and re-aim.

Love how you don’t bring up Halo CE. The kill times are fine. Stop.

ahhh but there is a huge difference with Halo CE. If you go watch some CE gameplay you will see that most pistol battles do not end up with 3 shot kills as there was zero aim assist and it wasn’t the easiest thing to pull off in most situations. That is where the skill gap comes into play. For those that are good, and I mean truly good, not your xbox live warrior. You could kill someone in an extremely short time.
I’ll try and describe what I am talking about.
Halo CE:
Pro = 3 shot kill
Skilled = 4-6 shot kill
Casual = 6-8 shot kill.
While not 100% accurate numbers it is close enough for my example. What you have in Halo CE is a difference by nearly 300% of the kill time between a “pro” and average joe.

Now look at a “pro” with an AR in halo 5 vs your average joe. You are talking a difference of milliseconds because there really isn’t much skill that goes into using the AR. Point at them and hold the trigger. By reducing the difference in kill times among players of various skills it is shrinking the skill gap. Before, a dominant player could honestly go into a CE game and fight 2 people at a time and come out on top nearly every time. Try that with against two people using an AR in halo 5.

My wife has watched me play hours of halo over the years. She has only picked up the controller a few times and has gotten wrecked in every single game. Halo 5 was the first game that she had ever gone positive, and she did it two games in a row a few days ago. This week, she tried again with BR starts and once again she did not do very well. When my wife who has approximately 10 hours of video game experience over the course of her entire life can pick up the controller and go positive the game is too easy. Simple as that.
