Shooting Without Permission?

So lately I’ve been playing a lot of Halo 4 and I’ve noticed that my weapons/vehicles have been firing a lot without me pulling the trigger. This doesn’t happen all the time so I’m assuming it is a connection kind of issue. Does anybody have any ideas as to why this happens?

Could there be something wrong with your controller? Perhaps the trigger sensor is broken/damaged?

Guns typically don’t have minds of their own, even with connection issues

Have you tried using another controller?
Does this happen in any other shooter game?

Hello, LouWauld.

Are you still experiencing this issue? As Twizzsted said, this is likely caused by a faulty controller. Have you tried using a different controller or playing another game using the right trigger to determine if the issue is confined to Halo 4 or that specific controller? Let me know.

As Cizlin and Twizzsted said, it is most likely a faulty controller. I am curious though as I do have a faulty controller I play around with for fun from time to time. Does your weapon fire one shot whenever changing a weapon, unpausing the game, spawning, respawning, entering or leaving a vehicle? If so, then the probability of a faulty controller is greatly increased.

I’ve been playing a lot of CoD lately as well as Halo and I noticed that I haven’t been having this issue on any other first person shooters. Anybody have anymore ideas as to why this is happening?

Sometimes different games react to different amounts of pressure when the trigger is pressed.

CoD may require a more firm trigger press, while H4 may require less pressure to shoot the gun, meaning that a potentially faulty controller in this case can make a gun fire on its own in H4, but not in CoD.
