"Shoot through wall" suport upgrade?

Seriously I had no idea it existed :stuck_out_tongue:

check it out in my file share :frowning:

It happened to me too and more than once. I have a picture of it on my fileshare http://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/players/d%20thelastking/halo4/fileshare#

So it’s not just me. I wonder why it happens, how, and if there will be a patch sometime. Heck I wonder how many times it happened without anyone noticing. In that one film clip I knew the beam rifle shot went through a wall, but while watching the vid I also noticed the dmr shot go through the floor. Man glitchey game

what about the " i crouch gun covered can shoot through object and you only see part of my head" support upgrade?

Noone is shooting you through walls kid. Its a little thing called lag/latency some IT dude correct me. On their screen your in their FOV, on your screen your behind the wall, simple because of either your internet, bad host etc…

edit. sometimes the lag gets really bad and your rubber-banding around the map, you think its fine for a second and walk behind the pipes but in fact you were directly in front of them. It may be hard to understand but that happens to me all the time, no stress just accept and move on

edit2: Blame no regional filter

Indeed, perhaps a multiplayer server to host the games instead of P2P. However it could still have these problems. I don’t think you can fix lag op.

From tsassi:

"The camera is attatched to the player model’s head. For the system to be intuitive, whenever there are no objects blocking your reticle, the bullets need to hit the target you are aiming at. You see, if it was so that the bullets actually came out of the gun, it would produce a really frustrating problem.

You can imagine a situation where you are crouched behind a rock, reticle exactly on your opponent’s head. The barrel of your gun is not at the same location as your reticle, it’s a little lower and to the right. If the bullets actually came out of the barrel of the weapon, they wouldn’t hit the opponent. You have your reticle straight at them, there is nothing blocking the path, but you can’t hit because your weapon and reticle are in different locations. And thus as you zoom out wondering what the heck just happened, you notice that instead of being in the opponent’s head, your bullet holes are on the lower right corner of the rock, outside of your reticle, exactly where your weapon is pointing.

To the player, such an unpleasant situation is extremely frustrating. The bullets went exactly the path they would realistically go. However, such an unintuitive gameplay mechanic is unacceptable. It’s much more important that your bullets go where you aim than where the opponent perceives the origin of the bullets to be.

There are four possible solution:

Solution number one: you change the camera to the location of the barrel of the gun. Technically, it works, but it makes you feel like a midget, making objects appear larger than they are. It’s unacceptable for gameplay.

Solution number two: you keep the camera where it is and make it so that bullets come out of the weapon. Works otherwise, but has the exact problem I explained above: bullets don’t go where the reticle shows. Again, absolutely unacceptable.

Solution number three: you change the location of the weapon to where the camera is. In other words, you make the system so that everyone has their weapon glued at their forehead. Again, unacceptable for aesthetic reasons.

Solution number four: you keep the camera at the player’s head, keep the weapon at the lower right corner of the screen and make it so the bullets come out of the camera. Not really perfect and may be problematic for the opponent when they can only see a very small part of the player who is shooting at them. However, it’s by far the best way to do it as the problem only appears in scenarios when a player is crouched behind an object, barely visible."

TL;DR - it’s not a glitch.

Its usual in H4. A shame, but who care about it, its the game of the cheap kills.

Good job 343, Once when I was playing team snipers I assumed the enemy must be hacking, because I was being shot before the enemy even saw me.

You can also melee people through windows and thin walls. It’s a glitch that has existed since Halo 2 and was never fixed. Surprisingly few people know about it as well. There have been numerous occasions where people were trying to taunt me by t-bagging while on the other side of a window, and then… boom backsmack!

lol

What you are seeing are the convergence of a few things.

  1. Latency. When the enemy shot you, they did so before you went around the corner on their screen.

  2. The weapon is hitscan.

  3. Hitscan weapons have trails rendered after the shot has registered and been determined where they hit.

Combine the 3 together and you get a situation where you believe you’ve been shot through a wall.

This one… Either lag (not latency but packet lag, ie data sent in pockets having a hiccup), or the object in question has a glitch associated with it.

Yeah I know all the explinations, but it just seems kind of silly. Was kinda hoping people would start posting pics of it happening to lol at.

Of course there’s no Support Upgrade to shoot through walls! It’s a Tactical Package, obviously. Either that, or lag, but I’m going with a Tactical Package.

Probably more due to lag than anything.

If they ever add this COD feature to halo, I will never play again.

Most people don’t waste their time taking pics or vids of lag. It’s always been there and always will be. Pluse watching it in a kill cam or theater isn’t going to help. Probably just make it look even worse than it was.

Your right how silly of me. Any other secrete support upgrades or tactical packages?

It’s called lag, and it has happened to everybody in every single Halo game.
