Because some of us want a game that’s fun and rewarding to play, and not just fiesta. Go back to that.
Someone doesn’t pay attention to twitch and youtube number streams, or know the very rich comp history of Halo 2. Where Halo got HUGE.
Right?
Everyone is getting what they want.
It is a RANKED ONLY change. Why do SOCIAL players want RANKED players to have a game THEY don’t want to play??
Let’s not. I’m not interested in talking to you about this. You’re this close to getting it but don’t understand the professional take at all out of a…
I like to play ranked.
I don’t care about fusion coils, but weapons do not need anymore nerfs or removal. What happened to the mangler ( or melee - ahh semantics ) was bad enough, and not necessary.
since when is ranked playlist only for the pro players?
so far i know the ranked playlist is for us all and not only for the pro players.
what i told you is why are there not asking for there own playlist not ranked there own playlist for the competive like a league playlist what has the competive settings for then.
Why should the ranked playlist have to be changed or split up for the sake of players who clearly don’t care about the competitive integrity of a ranked playlist?
since ranked playlist has compleet notting to do at all with the competirive settings at all.
it has compleet notting to do with the E-sports crap also.
ranked playlist has always been in the halo serie’s about the 4 VS 4 play setting with game mode’s like oddball or king of the hill and playing on small/medium maps only.
but let me tell you this also.
what the E-sport players are doing is only destroying the game compleet and make sure people stay away from the game.
there make things more worse then doing anything good for the serie’s since you maybe have forget that halo infinite has done all a lot off damage to the halo serie’s and trust in the communety and now the E-sport players make things more worse.
thats why in most off the FPS game’s people call the E-sports players the Game Destroyers since there always destroy the fun in most off the FPS game’s for the normal players.
there are on the same level as most of the hot streamers on youtube or twitch that do the same thing and are also call the Game destroyers.
and why has halo been sold to the normal players also then if there only most care about the E-sport players.
That’s only true to you because your opinion is that “good” means predictable and all of the other things talked about. You and I don’t want to play the same game. Your opinion of what’s good and my opinion of what’s good are different.
Though all of this I think is funny because fusion coils aren’t random or unpredictable in the first place. They spawn at a fixed rate (which is actually quite slow imo), and their usage follows strict mechanics (ie the damage they cause, how far they can be thrown, how Spartans carry them, etc is all fixed).
You just don’t like being killed by them by surprise. Which is fine. I’m not saying you’re wrong. That’s your preference. I do like killing or being killed by them.
Yes, and maybe that means most people don’t actually want to play with ultra competitive style settings, which would prove my point. But maybe they do, and if so they can have their own playlist. I still enjoy being competitive in Ranked, but I want to play Halo, not HCS (which imo is some other kind of game)
Regarding the more competitive side of things, and gameplay, I have two views;
1: The competitive / ranked / whatever should be as close as possible to the normal gameplay as possible with all features and mechanics intact.
2: Gameplay should see balancing center around top gameplay because that’s where imbalance shine through the most.
Coils are a great mechanical addition in my opinion, and it’s sad that the more competitive side has them removed altogether.
I am certainly not an avid Ranked player, only gotten the placements done, but I wish to continue playing it, though I lack the team to play with.
Anyway, why do I think #1?
It allows more people to jump between the modes of Social and Ranked more easily and play to their strengths without having to readjust to something else.
Additionally, with a viewership, the game functions as a representative. Imagine if you will someone stumbling in on a Halo stream and finding it barren and void because some aspects are missing they don’t know of.
Now for #2.
Where the game is “played” is at top level. Any imbalance that happen can be best seen there, effort vs reward etc.
We learn how to play, learn how to counter things, how to use them up to a certain point.
Yes it could be argued that Pro players have yet to learn things if they think something is overpowered, or underpowered. Though I’d argue these Pro players are investigating most possible angles of each of these issues to try and understand them properly, to learn how to counter or fully utilise a mechanic or asset.
What “normies” don’t see or realise as imbalance when they occasionally get subjected to it, the Pro players do.
Therefore, balancing through Pro players.
As for the coils in Ranked, I do hope they’re gone for just a “restructuring” where they maybe go over spawn times and map placements of them.
Maybe add some repulsors to counter them?
Possible change their behaviour to bounce once in order to crack them and the second impact detonate them? I mean, you shoot a coil and it starts shaking, but a fresh one smash into a Spartan and it explodes immediately?
“I want numbers and titles to tell everyone how good I am relative to other people, but I also don’t want the actual settings I am playing to have any competitive merit”: y’all right now.
Competitive players get the bare minimum concessions and you all pitch a fit. Note I didn’t mention anything about esports, but its easier for you to scapegoat “esports” and streamers for the games failures.
Sorry no one cares about how good you are at randomly chucking coils.
You can start asking for separate ranked and “HCS” playlists when we get BR start social gametypes without random weapon spawns. Otherwise it is incredibly selfish to demand the ranked playlist changed just because you have a personal vendetta against “esports” when the entire rest of the game is so hostile to even slightly competitive players.
They never did MLG/HCS always had the lowest population in previous Halo’s. This competitive mantra 343 have is totally misguided in their part. Yes we like to compete, but with a full sandbox.
However I don’t mind them removing the coils in Arena as it’s the HCS playlist. 343 just need to satisfy us with proper tanked playlists.
i not know about you but doing stuff like this listing to the pro players or hot streamers is something that is only making this more worse now.
since you really good know the halo serie’s has a lot off other big problems there need to deal with first.
the game has the worst release in halo history.
the game has a compleet broken mutiplayer.
the game is broken all for more then 1 year all.
the halo serie’s in general have the worst reputation in history.
the game has the worst reputation in history.
the game has the worst multiplayer in history.
in general more it has the worst of the worst in history in the halo serie’s more.
and what there do is listing to pro players and chance it fast more when normal players in the communety have been telling for more then 1 year all about the broken things the game has there need to fix and there ignore it more.
if there fix the big problems not good and restore the trust in the halo serie’s and communety first then the pro players lose also a lot if normal players like you and me are stop buying the game.
An awful lot of people seem to have done just that, which begs the question as to whether ‘Ranked=Pro Settings’ is the right choice for player enjoyment and retention. There are obviously multiple reasons why people have left ranked, so who can say how large of a role this attitude has played. It might be the right decision but it shouldn’t be some untouchable idea that can’t be debated on its merits.
They could make it more of a middle ground, something that is more pro oriented, but a little laid back so it’s fun for people getting more into the pro scene to transition more perhaps. Dropping people right into a the actual pro scene might deter people off because it’s more bigger of a change then they expected and have to quickly adjust if they don’t want to get demolished. Something that’s like Pro, but a little more loose on the rules and fun for people to play might help people transition better if they’re trying to encourage people to join HCS and get us more competition.
Not even ones going to just adjust at the snap of the fingers. Plus bigger competitive level events will never come to ranked. If one does pop up that people can actively participate in it, it’ll probably be more community driven more then anything.
The spanker is not a free kill. There are a bunch of ways to deal with the spanker. I.e. play them close enough where they will kill themselves using it. Sniper shots. Back smack. Baiting to waste rounds… ect
I agree that the game is not in good shape, but I really don’t see the value in getting upset that one part of the community got an incredibly small concession and I assure you that more people were asking for things like this beyond “pros and streamers.”
These are not huge time intensive changes that 343 made. 343 did not drop everything else in order to bend over backwards for the competitive community, these are some incredibly basic quality of life changes.
It isn’t realistic to expect that every part of the community gets something from every single update.
