Shipmaster leader concept discussion

While I find his playstyle more oriented around subterfuge and stealth, I always found it odd that shipmaster wasn’t given a a super unit call in like Anders’ super sentinel. I get the enduring conviction went kaboom in the story, unjustly so in my personal opinion, but it bugs me that the “ship” master doesn’t have a “call in bansihed battlecruiser” or something. Locust balls and hammer brute apache runs are cool and all, but I think it’s a missed opportunity to have a leader called Shipmaster without a big ol’ battleship to wield like the super sentinel. Maybe replace warp gate? Since I haven’t seen that power used much, since he already has teleport for a way in and recall for a way out.

problem two is his title not matching his theme. Stealth and avoiding combat don’t really fit a fleet leader do they? Maybe he should be centered around unit call ins like Cutter? Seems more fitting to me, as Cutter’: ultimate is a call in of four gunships to support your called in troops. Shipmaster should get a similar setup, no? All those ships he’s the master of have to be carrying something besides locusts and teleporter fuel.

On a less serious note, he should get a new title if he’s not going to get a new carrier or whatever the big Covy ships were called. He’s still alive, so Atriox should give him a new title. I’m thinking Locustmaster.

You realize hes been out since February and theres no way hes being changed right?

It’s called wishlist for a reason, pal

Gate is one of his best abilities. You can quickly traverse the map where you need to be and travel through it to run away again. Besides, Shipmaster is good the way he is and no need to change something not broken.

I’m not saying he’s not good or reccomending actual changes. I’m just saying I think the concept for Shipmaster is strange considering his title and backstory.

you guys really arguing over a wishlist. I agree with his points about how he should be more similar too Cutter. He should call in a seraph bombing run. You know the covenant air vehicle that was only in reach and never got used again :frowning:

Because it’ll never happen. Wishes don’t come true, buddy

Dude the ship is too big.

The Seraph has been in Halo media forever.

I’m not saying it must be the enduring conviction, but it should be something shouldn’t it? Even Arbiter has unique air units over Shipmaster, so why does Shippy get the title when he doesn’t have any unique ships?

Right? His cleansing beam 3 is the closest ability involving his title but barely makes him unique.
It would be pretty bad -Yoink- if you could telegraph a direction a smaller corvette class or something would slowly strafe from one side of the map to the other reigning hell. It would be a pretty awesome way to scout the enemy while also making them afraid of random walls of firepower popping out of the fog of war

Heck even a unit drop of 5 banshees would do it for me

Shipmaster is unique and is different than any other leader in game. He can Teleport upon unexpected armies, use displacement on half an army to kill the other half, he even has spirit assault which is one of the best drops in game. I love Shipmaster the way he is and to change him is to kill the game in the progress. It was also already daring to change grunt sqaud with Arbiter’s.

What I want from Shipmaster is for the Honour Guard to be useful.

> What I want from Shipmaster is for the Honour Guard to be useful.

Shipmaster’s Honor Guard is the weakest hero in game but makes up for that because of his leader abilities. Shipmaster’s playstyle is about control and not brute force like a colony. You defend when needed and strike their base when they are weak or displace their army in the most inconvenient areas.

I know how to play Shipmaster, lol.

Shipy is great, but that doesn’t change the fact that the Honour Guard is awful and should be improved/reworked. The only uses for him are capturing nodes and activating Tactical Gateway. He can be used to hit mini-bases as well, but his base damage is pretty poor.

Almost all other heroes (excluding OG Spartans) are good at something or offer a good ability.

You don’t get it. Shipmaster’s Honor Gaurd is fine the way he is even if I dont build him until around 10 mins because he will only stall early game. If you can diplace half an army, why does his hero need anything more? The only heroes that need rework is the Spartan for all the launch leaders, even Cutter.

Apologies, my friend. I don’t know what I’m talking about. Thank you for showing me the light.
